There's all this talk in other threads about BBC News 24's graphics against Sky News etc, but ITV News barely gets a look in besides in this thread, is that because people won't entertain it just because its not fully live overnight
So what to people think of the ITV News Channel's graphics, and the way their look handles Breaking News, people on the phone, location straps etc
Owen Thomas is on right now and has just started the bulletin with "Hello again", so maybe it's the Midnight bulletin that is repeated throughout the night.
It's Sharon Grey's week again next week, though I think she's off
Personally I think the ITV NC graphics are atrocious, they just aren't suited to a rolling news channel. The orange combined with blue and purple doesn't work any more (especially since the graphics were adapted), and absolutely nothing lines up. Infact when I was watching Sky News (for a bit of variety), I was amazed that everything lined up perfectly. And the 'Breaking News for Britain' things don't match anything else on the channel.
I hope with the rebrand comes a bit of consistency.
I don't really see how people can complain about ITV News' graphics. They are by far the easiest on the eye of all the news channels - unlike Sky or News 24 they don't look cheap, they look well put together. The red and orange of the astons works well without being too gharish, and the insets are particularly nice.
Yep - it's a nice touch. This is how news programmes should be IMHO - in touch with the mood of the nation. Central News South often broadcast from outside the studios on hot days, so it's nice to see the national news doing the same.
Yes they used the same type of camera-pan that they used throughout the War on Iraq programmes.
Im not sure that 7 minutes at the top of the main news programme is worthy of this story but i suppose it must be a quiet news day.
I dont mind 'fluffy' news like this - the 18:30 bulletin is tending to turn a bit more magaziney anyway! But when there are big stories they do cover them VERY well - even if they are a bit 'tabloidy' but thats the type of viewer they are catering for and makes the sometimes hard story more easy to swallow / follow!
Nice two-way graphic they used linking between Katie Derham and Tim Rogers - it was like the new blue/yellow spinning globe wireframe but also had the sunshine blasting through aswell!
