It is nice to see Jemma Woodman back on the News Channel.

As for Andrew Harvey - he's hardly been away for long. Probably on holiday.

He's back tomorrow according to the schedule on itv.com

Can i just ask a question about this, because I find it extremely annoying. When I go and click on the last page in this thread to view whats been said, I get the "No Posts Exist For This Topic" announcement.

I presume this has happened because someone posted, starting a new page, then deleted the message?? Is there anyway to fix it?

Does anyone know how many hours of news ITV has at the moment compared to, say, a year ago? These regional inserts are all very nice and (often) seamless, but it seems to me that they're just a convenient way of reducing the amount of news on ITV1.

For example, the Lunchtime News used to last a full half hour with a regional news programme afterwards (or before). Now, with the regional insert, the ITN-produced stuff only lasts for a little over 15mins. And I guess a similar sort of thing is the case with News at Ten (although I have to say that it's a good thing that the insert has replaced the ridiculously late regional bulletin).

Well News at Ten used to be a 20 minute affair without the inclusion of the regional bulletin, now with the regional bulletin it's a full half hour.

Yeah, I had a feeling that might be the case with News at Ten. So has the amount of news only been reduced at lunchtime then? The ITV Lunchtime News is definitely shorter, and it seems that the local insert is shorter than the old local bulletins.

Also the morning and afternoon updates have increased in length by 50% plus there is also that extra update at 11.55am

The afternoon regional bulletin is fairly long as well, probably to make up for the slight shortening of the lunchtime one

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up!

I haven't seen any of the morning/afternoon updates for ages so didn't realise they'd been added/lengthened but was wondering if they'd done something like that. Somehow I didn't think that ITV would have been allowed to get away with dumping 10mins of news a day!

Unusually Nicholas Owen said at the end of today's Lunchtime News that he "would be back tommorow for Saturday's Lunchtime News which starts at 1 o'clock"

So it looks like he's working the weekend this week.

I wonder if we'll get any ITV Regional faces on the ITV News Channel tommorow, I wonder if anyone from Tyne Tees, Yorkshire or ITV1 Carlton for Central England will ever appear

Apparently Hannah Stewart-Jones from Central South was on a couple of weekends ago, although I didn't see her myself.

Did anyone see Nicholas Owen this afternoon - well if you blinked you'll have missed him. He did a 3 minute summary at 1pm - and thats it.

Andrea Catherwood and Sniffity Barr are doing the rest of the evening - what was the point of him bothering at all?

Sniffity could have done it.

I was thinking the same, I expected him to then do all day on ITV1, but he only did the 1pm round-up, not even a shift on the ITV News Channel

Also nobody regional was on the NC today, it was covered by Felicity Barr, Rachel McTavish and Steve Scott
