After Katie and Andrew have cleared off will there be two presenters after them?

Unlikely, they will need to prepare for the Evening News, so probably back to the CSO, don't think they can have 2 presenters in that studio.

How long were these shifts? Was it just for an hour or a proper Sky News-style shift?

Sounds like good news to me!

What about between the evening news and the news at ten?

*GASP* - now Katie and Andrew are joined by Lauren Taylor at the big screen. Totalling 3 presenters. Shocked

I think the todays special way of using dual-anchors on the ITV News Channel is excellent. It is much better, it gives the anchors someone to interact with (as Andrew Harvey said) and it just seems more profesional. Both Alastair & Felicity and Andrew & Katie seemed to get on well and it improved the channels output, in my opinion.
Also, the way they had Lauren Talyor at the big screen was great. Its a shame it only for the one day Crying or Very sad
I really think that ITV should consider implementing this anchoring system more often, it would be great at key times of the day, like in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Excellent coverage!

Er, why is everyone so certain it's only for one day? They've had big events before (the war, mainly) and didn't use double-headed programmes for that. I'd say let's wait and see what happens tomorrow - it's a monday after all, and changes normally come in at the start of a week...

The EPG says its a single anchor

Well the listings for tomorrow say that it's just Steve Scott all afternoon tomorrow, although that may just be the template and they might change it, who knows? I certainly see no reason why today warranted an extra presenter more than any other event, so I will be interested to see what happens. It's certainly a step in the right direction.

Well, the EPG is updated every few days for the ITV News Channel, so its possible that they have only decided to use that as a fill in until they know the name of the two presenters.

However, I certainly agree that it would be great to see more dual-anchored bulitens of the News Channel

Andrea Catherwood said 'now the news where you are' a bit early today

Did everyone's region linger on the shot of her at the desk for ages

It shouldn't be hard for a presenter to fill, I bet Nick Owen would have done, and John Suchet for that matter as well

I fully understand that the ITV regions opt according to a precise time whereas the BBC regions are more flexible in their button pushing. But surely the regions can press the button a couple of seconds early to make the transitions seamless instead of lingering with the presenter? What stops the regions from opting out when it seems natural, rather than waiting for the scheduled time?
