A sports presenter has been joining the ITV News Channel presenter all afternoon today. It's the youngish bloke, Alex somebody who takes his place at the end of the desk. Give's the presenter an opportunity to banter a bit with somebody.
Also, have they stopped doing the short handovers between the newscasters now on the ITVNC ? Haven't seen them do those in a while.

Did she used to be on the BBC Breakfast News?[/quote]
Fiona Foster has been a reporter for Tonight for a good year now. She has also presented the programme twice.
Fiona started her TV career at Business Breakfast, then part of Breakfast News in the days on Nick Whitchell, Laurie Mayer and Jill Dando. She was co-presenter with Paul Burden. She then filled in for Jill Dando for a while as co-presenter of the main part of Breakfast News. Then she went to launch London Tonight with Alastair Stewart before being lured to CNN in Atlanta where she presented World News for a few years. She returned to London about two years ago and began working for Tonight. I realy hope she is to be a regular presenter at ITN, though one would assume its only to cover Catherwoods extended deployment to the field and Derham's up coming leave.

Katie is due to take a good holiday. She has virtually been on every night since Mary took maternity leave, and throughut the Gulf War.

Some strange happenings on the ITV News Channel. It appears they (on DTT anyway) are in widescreen with a 14:9 crop out. Perhaps they're preparing for widescreen. Trying to select 4:3 cut out doesn't affect it. Probably a mishap.

Its all going tits-up on News at Ten, first the projector VT ulay runs out then on the precomms we go to black in the DVE that and no break sting! Where's Nick Owen when you need him to make a joke about the lack of picture or something? Oh and how lovely to see that News at When started at 21:50something... It really is a lottery!!!

Yep - "interesting" would be a good word to describe it. And what is that wideshot with no desk and a nasty matted fake floor all about? Are we supposed to imagine a team of scene shifters dragging the desk in during the break??

Indeed noggin, I agree! The shots just wouldn't match up, for exapmle on the pre-recorded W/S he is standing on the other side of the projector, yet on the MCU he is standing camera right.
He is also standing in what is clearly a cut out on the graphic and the keying isn't that great either. At some points (and probably due to the lack of an experienced FM on ITV News) he stands in the wrong spot and off his mark, the key cuts off part of his arm or something!! Its a nice idea but ITV News need to decide whether they are with or without desk for their forthcoming re-launch as I feel pretty sorry for that lone floor manager moving the desk all on her own in the climate!

I presume that if the steps out of the area I've marked in red he will be disembodied, poor John
He's trapped and he cant get out
I prefer the desk idea myself, at least the camera can zoom in on the desk after the titles.

Yeah, all my ITV News Channel output is >>squished<< - even the adverts. It's a pain to watch. I don't get black bars on "Normal", and it doesn't crop the edges on "Centre Cutout". Strange.
