The (old) ITV News Thread

Not really. Everyone knows it's produced by ITN.

I prefer the ITN name. It holds more authority than the tarnished [itv] logo.

I know for a fact that there are guidelines to be adhered to by all reporters and presenters. All references are to be made to ITV news and not ITN.

TSK! Why do I always miss Barnes and Rippon on the NC? Please, someone do capture the NC titles with Angela Rippon saying Good Afternoon or something!

Oh yes, Angela was just terrific. I hope she continues on the ITV News Channel, she has an air of authority and is such an established presenter, superb.

The Evening News last night was also superb, coming live from Downing Street, and devoting a segment of the programme to ordinary people interviewing Tony Blair.

ITV News are being the innovators at the moment, and this is even before the new look is brought in.

It's great that they are getting rippon and barnes back, but who are they replacing on the news channel - could someone post the present presenter schedule on the news channel - and please bring back julia somerville - and please have angela rippon on the evening news - the public would love itv if they did that!

so who is doing which shifts - if angela and carol are doing afternoons, aren't they taking leylas ones - is there a timetable or does it vary a lot - sorry about my ignorance on this - don't have sky anymore but used to love the News Channel!

To me the viewer, the ITV News Channel schedule seems completely random. You don't know when you are going to see a face from one day to the next, and presenters come on do an hour, disappear and then come back later.

They also change over at odd times, due to switching over studios I think, when the news on ITV1 is coming up.

I would prefer if they put certain presenters in slots and stuck with them, but I guess they prefer the flexibility.

And tommorow it's supposed to be Felicity Barr from 7am, and then from 1pm its Sue Saville!


Talking about bringing people back, How about Martyn Lewis, who only seems to front religious programming lately!

It's just a pitty the ITV News Channel doesn't have a booming announcement at the top of the hour, just to make it perfectly clear that it actually was Anglela Rippon presenting, and not just a quick caption!

In the majority of cases, members are great doing this but please remember to reference where you copied the text from (in this case MediaGuardian).

Good of ITV1 to realise head-to-head news wasn't working (even if the programme happens to be being beaten by the BBC anyway )
