The (old) ITV News Thread

Hmmm...anyone see this?

The final ad (for the Millionaire special - curse you ITV2 for showing the whole episode when I can't get the channel!) finished and we were treated to a 14:9 clip of the standard ITV News background, rotating and swirling around with ITV NEWS CHANNEL written in the standard ITV1 opening titles style but much smaller. Looked a lot better than the main titles and stayed onscreen for about 5 seconds - I had the sound on mute so couldn't tell if they were using the usual music. Then it just went into the normal ITVNC titles in 4:3

I think the only time I've seen that before is when they blank out the sponsor of GMTV Weather on the ITV News Channel simulcast

By the way we were treated to a few minutes of 'breakfiller' at 4pm this afternoon as it must have taken a while to get Katie Derham ready for the Phone-in programme

I think I've seen it before. They use it as a sort-of breakbumper sometimes, mostly during ITV1 simulcasted programmes.

I know what graphic you mean, but whenever I watch an ITV1 News bulletin that is simulcasted on the ITVNC, the "ident" that you're talking about is shown before it, while over on ITV1 an ident is being shown.



I can get ITV2 - hmm a good night on Easter Monday for me then!

The episode will be shown in full on ITV1 during the Tonight with Trevor McDonald programme.

Thanks for the replies guys! Whenever I've caught a ITVNC simulcast, I've always been watching ITV1 waiting for a new generic ident!

And I've just checked the EPG and you're right about Millionaire! Fancy mentioning it'll be on ITV2 at 10.30 when it's just been shown (sandwiched I guess) from 9-10.30 on ITV1?!

I don't think the Millionaire ep will be shown in full on ITV1, it's just a Tonight special with Sir Trev. I think parts of the episode will be shown, with the full* episode shown on ITV2 later in the evening.

* - what I mean is the episode with no edited bits out.

The EPG says "Including the previously unseen episode in full, plus interviews with key figures." Hmmm...

Interesting little addition to the forum there from Asa, the ITV rebrand vote.

I've placed my vote for 27th May, it's the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday Monday, I figured they could do with the extra day to effect the changes and launch on the Tuesday. That's my guess anyway.

I picked 5th May, dunno why, just a random date.
