There was a mistake made!On the opening and closing shots, John was standing frozen on the left hand side of the studio, nowhere near the invisible desk or screen, but the news actually came from the real big screen, where John Suchet was actually standing.

Im becoming a huge fan of Nicholas Owen! He is one of the best newsreaders Ive seen and I never really noticed.
"Well worth watching when we come back <POINT> DONT TOUCH THAT REMOTE"
Remember when he used to point all the time before!

Definately my favourite newsreader! Yesterday, at the end of the programme, he said "I'll be back in this chair...", while pointing at the chair and lifting himself out of it to a degree, "...tommorrow". Absolutely fabulous! Should be on the Evening News in my opinion.

Nah, Nick is fab where he is, I wouldn't move him. His style is perfect for the Lunchtime News.
As for the changes, I seem to remember Easter being mentioned as the time for change. AIUI they already have the new titles, graphics and that in place ready to go, they've just been focussing on the war and probably felt it was inappropriate, as well as wanting to concentrate all their efforts on the war.

I think he should stay on the Lunchtime News, although I dont really watch Early afternoon news. I think he would be very good with a co-presenter. Did he work on the Lunchtime News when it was co-presented? Are the ITV News Bulletin times changing as well then?

oh yes, it seems nick toned it down during the war, but is back in the swing of things again. yesterday's sign off was better than today's - but, any break from the standard itn sign off is good IMO.
shame he doesnt give out these kind of orders on the itn news channel - he seems to but plain old nicholas owen whenever i happen upon the channel.
as for moving him to the early evening news - it would certainly not work with one of the younger women, but if they were to let nick pair up with julia summerville, carol barnes or angie rippon, i reakon it could be a real hit!
lets keep our fingers crossed itv network centre havent been too involved with the rebrand - else, i fear, the word *tacky* will be plastered all over it.

Never a truer work said!!!
It just gets me wound up how people like John Suchet & Owen Thomas are working hours on end and get little recognition for it. Trevor then comes and does 15 minutes and is therefore a 'Sir' and 'The Face of ITV News'.
I'd love to see him do one of John's shifts on the ITV News Channel when a really big story broke, and then see how well he coped.

Trevor McDonald is a freeloader. He doesnt work to earn the position he has, and I think he takes it for granted. He does fairly little work compared to other Newscasters and seems to think that no matter what he does he will still be loved.

Talking about the ITV News Channel, before the war nobody knew what time your favourite presenter would pop up, but now they seem to have standised into some slots
For example Felicity Barr, Lauren Taylor and Steve Scott tend to do mornings
Nicholas Owen tends to stay on after the Lunchtime News until 2pm
Katie Derham does an hour at 4, John Suchet an hour at 5
Andrew Harvey regularly does evenings
