I disagree. The report says it wishes to move its main evening news to 9pm, and depending on the amount of news it oculd be extended. They'd hardly cut the bulletin to 15mins. What would be the point in moving it.
They wont cut the Evening News either. It is working in its current format at 6.30 and audiences are rising. If war breaks out then a main news at 9 is perfect and will fit into the schedules nicely.
Interesting, too, to see that the news channel is using the camera angles normally only used on ITV1, ie interviewee on the other side of the desk, different angle before break etc. Looks really good, I can't wait for the relaunch because at this rate, it's going to be fantastic.

It was a mistake. Half way through the opening heads, the camera cut to the studio shot and remained there until they switched to single shot.
Tsk, I know that! If you read what I wrote properly, you'd know I've been watching - I mean the side view when they go to the break, it was the ITV1 style with Sasha Herriman before, and they're interviewing the guest on the opposite side of the desk to usual - where they usually sit people on the lunchtime news. They usually sit in front of the big screen on the news channel.

I cant imagine GMTV giving up their time after hearing how they made they ITV pay for their advertising during the F1
theres nothing to stop itv suggesting to gmtv that it would be a good idea to produce (or more likely commision) a talkshow for the 9am slot and gmtv collecting ad revenue as per usual.
and i agree it is fab to see angela on itn news channel - she was a bit rusty to start with, but seems to have got back into the swing of things!
come on itn, get some more faces from the past, julia summerville, edward stourton, alan towers etc.
I have to say all these developments at ITV and ITV News regarding more provision for news coverage during the upcoming war is brilliant, even dropping some dramas in order to come up with the funds for it. Hopefully the rumoured new look for ITV News will improve the weaker presentation side of things, which I guess is the titles and graphics.
Usually I prefer BBC News, but ever since David Mannion came back as ITV News editor, its has improved dramatically. ITV seem to be rolling out these changes before the conflict begins, so things can only get better I'd say, especially with them preparing to move News at Ten to 9pm for the Iraq conflict, which, if the demand for news and information is in the regions of September 11, will get good ratings I'd imagine.
Same with Sky News, they obviously have good plans in place. The same however can't really be said for BBC News, unless their planning something radical for when it begins, they just seem to be treating it as an ongoing story with no obvious special provisions in place as yet. BBC News 24 has no live presentation device i.e. the newswall on Sky News, and the large projector screen on ITV NC.
I've been watching the News Channel since Rippon came on and have to say she is brilliant. Very charming, holding the continuous coverage of the archbishops enthronement very well and delivering some breaking news with great ease - And - She looks just radiant!!!!
A lot of forumers wont remember her when she was on the BBC News, but nothing has changed, apart from a few lines perhaps. ITV should bring back more of the more established faces, and especially women. Sorry, but Katie Derham and Andrea Catherwood just dont cut it as serious anchors. They might have been hailed as the new wave of ITV news presenters, but they simply dont hold the authority that the golden girls do.
More Rippon, More Barnes, and please bring back Julia Sommerville.

What a good idea! An informal mornings chat about the news on the ITV News Channel. Only, I doubt GMTV will do that, because the morning franchise is supposed to be dedicated to news or something like that, so having a seperate "News Chat" programme on the ITVNC defeats the object of GMTV.
i doubt the licence conditions are that specific - i presume GMTV are set prescribed percentages for news, childrens content etc, just like every other itv franchise?
you can hardly call LK Today (or whatever they call it now) as news - so they're able to put out atleast half an hour of non-news/chat/magazine content per weekday.
whether or not they would want to (being in direct competition with mr kilroy) is another matter. the status quo must be cost effective, basically using the same facilities to produce all of their output - 1 crew etc. etc. gmtv commisioning central/granada/endemol or similar would no doubt be a rather more expensive route to filling the final 25 minutes of their airtime.
