Now that the simulcasts have ended it looks like Angela Rippon has been moved to daytimes

She's on tomorrow 0900-1100 and 1145-1230

That's normally Felicity Barr's shifts.

I guess now the ITV News at Ten will return within the next couple of weeks. I'd have said Monday, but the Monday bulletin is at 11pm, so I guess it might return after Easter.

Very disapointed that ITV1 did not have live coverage of this afternoons' events.

Also, anyone know when Trevor McDonald might relocate to Baghdad. The initial info about the News at Nine suggest that once in coalition hands, the programme would be anchored from the Iraqi capital.

Shame the intros and outros of the ITV Evening News are so obviously recorded - Mark's mouth not moving at the start and at the end, him being in the wrong position for the wide shot. Still, picky aren't I...

ITV DID have live coverage of events on the ITV News Channel!

Unlike the BBC they dont have two terrestrial channels to fill with output that is more suited to a digital news channel!

Whereas the budget is usually a major event it was covered with not much gusto and was overshadowed by events in Baghdad!

I think ITV took the right choice in showing news/budget coverage from 0925 - 1045, 12:00 - 14:00 and then 17:30 - 19:00

If people are after any more news than that they must be a news freak and must already have a news channel to turn over to!

I dont see why they can't be live theres nothing stopping them, and you can really spot it easily. Also why at the end of News at Nine, there is a shot of Baghdad, when its just going dark...

The ITV Lunchtime News should have 2 presenters, for the hourly coverage of the war with Nick and Angela Rippon, that would be a good programme to watch!

It does have two presenters - Felicity Barr presents a round up of other news at 1pm.

One presenter is best for these events - the BBC have 2 on their News 24 coverage and half the time they end up talking over each other. With all the live links, another presenters is not needed.

I notice that none of the 'big names' are in today's News Channel schedule, not even Carol Barnes in the evening

Are they on the way out?

There was a good cockup with the ITV Morning News this morning on ITV1

After the ident at 5.30am we cut directly to a shot of Owen Thomas, who read three headlines, just a pitty there was no images or sound, just Owen talking to the camera in silence!

He then stopped talking obviously the bit where the titles were meant to be, and put a mad face on and shook his head!

He then said in silence 'a very good morning to you...'

The ITV1 Continuity Announcer then apologised

The sound came on when we cut to the first report, I don't know what happened after that

Who cares to wager a few $ or £ that "News at Nine" becomes a lasting feature?

This "swap your news times" thing between the BBC and ITV seems to be ironic enough to ultimately come true.
