Is this Alastair Stewart's first time back on a 'normal' ITV1 bulletin (complete with voiceover) rather than a News Channel simulcast?

First time he's got the voiceover, he has already done an ITV News Summary around 11pm though.

The bulletin that is on right now started with one of those Mark Austin intros, so there was no voiceover then either

Could this intro mean that his move back to ITV News is more than just temporary?

I think it's more a case that with the Weekend News presenters in the gulf and Mary and Leyla being on maternity leave, they have no one else to present.

He is much better than James Mates / Bill Neely / Shule Ghosh when they did it! Especially when he gets excited!!

That's a good point - where is Shulie Ghosh?

Yes using the same sponsorship captions as they use on the Yorkshire Weather

Rachel McTavish did this morning's ITV Morning News, with Angela Rippon taking it in turns throughout the night

Tonight it's Owen Thomas and Sasha Herriman doing 11pm to 6am, with all the big names having a night off!

Alistair Stewart was back tonight with the late ITV News from the virtual studio.

The programme began with the short ITV News titles and headlines but although the theme was played in full, their was no voiceover.

It's not virtual, it's just the normal studio with the normal background replaced, and the desk and raised platform keyed over with the War on Saddam graphic.

It was just the normal ITV News titles but without a voiceover added over the top wasn't it

Why they didn't have an announcement I don't know, as we've already heard "Alistiar Stewart" before so they could have clamped this on the end of an "The ITV News with"

Now that the simulcasts have ended it looks like Angela Rippon has been moved to daytimes
