What's everyone's opinions on Felicity Barr?

This afternoon she seemed to be presenting the coverage well and getting into it. I thought she might be thinking "I'd rather be reporting the sport" but obviously not!

She seems nervous usually, like Mary Nightingale- who is also a great newsreader (when she's on!).

Why do you think they are nervous ? They're not nervous, these people are professionals, it's just their voice.

Freeview
I have had problems with ITV News on Freeview, the channel is blank, when I installed the new channels for Radios 1- 4 there seemed to be an extra ITV News Channel and occasionally one is blank and the other is broadcasting. Why is this happening? Please help!

Angela Rippon was a bit stuck last night on how to pronounce Libby Wiener's name going into a report. "This report with Libby Veen-- Wine -- Winer.." then went to ask the director something [possibly how to pronounce it], before the report actually started.

Thing is she got it right first time, kind of subconsciously remembered she heard it like that before, but then went on to pronounce it wrongly. The report was so long [3 stuck together], I think she forgot she did it when we came back to her.

Did the ITV News Channel simulcast the GMTV News Hour this morning, or do their own thing??

I have watched BBC N24, ITV NC & Sky News and prefer ITV News to the rest, BBC go on TOO long about things & how many million of pssibilities there is. Ia am not thick but I don't need to know every f*cking detail, I also am not a big fan of the cream red set, never have ben always prefred the blue era. Sky's Graphics are too big & bright. I also prefer the mix of presenters on ITN & also just prefer there presenters in general. I find Sky News TOO American & never been a big fan of BBC news even when ITN hadn't dumbed down. Watching the war news though I have found it quite addictive as have quite a few people I know mainly because although I'm against this war (& no I am not going to start a moral issue thing in this topic) I find it quite interesting.

Felicity Barr was a good sports reporter but I do not rate her at all as a newscaster. I feel that she is twitchy and nervous. I liked her as a reporter cos she was enthusiastic and seemed to enjoy what she was doing, but as a newsreader........ Rolling Eyes

For some reason the Lunchtime News with Nicholas Owen had Felicity Barr doing a summary of other news.

Maybe Felicity could become the regular Weekend News host, merging the roles of newsreader and sports reporter.

Some less frequently seen presenters were on the News Channel today

Steve Scott did various morning shifts

and on right now is Joyce Oharja

And Owen Thomas is still working even though he's not doing the ITV Morning News. Owen was reporting from outside Downing Street as part of the ITV Morning News with Angela Rippon this morning

Does anyone else think that something strange is happening over at ITV News??

Last week before the war had actually started the schedules were totally rearranged with news bulletins inserted throughout the day as such:-

0925 - 1030 ITV News
1100 ITV News Update
1200 ITV News Update
1230 - 1330 ITV Lunchtime News
1500 ITV News Update
1800 - 1900 ITV Evening News with reduced local news input
2100 - 2130 ITV News At Nine
2300 - 2320 ITV News Update with local news
0030 - 0600 ITV News Channel on ITV1

The way the extra bulletins helped bridge the gap to much between the next itv1 bulletin was great and was a good bit of scheduling!

I just wonder why this week when things are really starting to 'hot up' that the coverage has been reduced?

Also has anyone noticed that the amount of live interviews with reporters in the gulf has near enough vanished from the ITV News? For the first couple of days the ITV News and ITV NC was just 100% live interviews from the gulf with very little pre-recorded reports!

Ive got a gut feeling that maybe something else has happened to the ITV reporters out there as they are just not being used unlike last week. Also where was Mark Austin tonight on the ITV Evening News. Every night upto now he has lead the bulletin live from the gilf with Katie Derham only filling in in the studio when need be!

I am also concerned that the (sic) great ITV news coverage has diminished this week and i have now opted for SKY News!

The reason why the 9.25am programme and the extended Evening News have been dropped is because people were getting fed up with the overkill of news

There's only so long a presenter can say 'as we look over Bhagdad its all quiet tonight blah blah'

BBC One have also reduced their News Specials on BBC ONE

I can only assume Mark Austin wasn't live heading the Evening News was because of the weather?

Anne Leuchers is currently on the ITV News Channel

It looks like the schedules on itv.com/news arn't kept to, as they;'ve been wrong for the majority of the day!
