We are usually well into Sharon Grey/Owen Thomas/Lloyd Bracey shifts by now, this is the latest he's been on!
He has been on since 7pm tonight (with a break at 9 for 30 minutes)
Now thats how the news channel should be run - rather than the eradic scheduling of people that itvnc had before with about 15 presenters a day doing the odd half hour here and there!
Much better but hes looking a little bit tired by now - but still very good and professional!
ITV News deserve a lot of recognition for the work and coverage they are putting in to this war. They have assembled a fantastic team of presenters and journalists both out in the field and back at home. They are making good use of the virtual studio, the main studio, the big screen and many lives and OB's.
You can't really fault them for the efforts they are making.
I really Think SKYnews and ITV News will kick BBC's Ass for this war's coverage.
The BBC are so set in their ways, they cant let themselves go and really try to bring out a dynamic way of reporting the facts.
ITV's are more average viewer friendly, whilst SKYnews is going for the more sophisticated technically detailed approach for serious news viewers and News Junkies, but still being simple and clear enough for the (5min at a time) viewers.
The BBC is slow, old and should be treated like a severly wounded animal in pain, and shot quickly and painlessly.
The BBC have all these vast resources, but no-one really gives a **** when all they want is fast, quick info, and reports from where the action is as it happens. Not a group of decaying old men sitting round a table talking about whats right and wrong and how the conflict should be going.
Very good coverage from ITV News. The dog on simulcast bulletins is well integrated, unlike the BBC's Iraq War logo.
Changes: Lunchtime News will run from 12.30-1.30 throughout conflict, Evening News runs from 6-7pm and following last night's ratings hit, ITV News at Nine will run seven nights a week throughout the conflict.
