Excuse my ignorance, but I always expected "Leyla Daybelge" to be pronounced "Ley-la Day-bellj" but the announcers and voice overs are introducing her as "Ley-lo Dah-Bell-Jee" which I thought was worth mentioning. As she usually presents on the news channel, she rarely gets her voice announced.

The intro to the programme said it right, the continuity announcer said it wrong!

Her name is pronounced "Lay-la Day-bel-gee", but on Sunday's Early Evening News the continuity announcer said "Ley-la Daibel-geh"¬

When she presented the news with Felicity Barr once (video on the Continuity Booth) the continuity announcer said it right.

Actually her name's pronounced "Lay-la Day-bel-gay".

That's what I meant... hehehe

Yes. I thought it was going to fade out before they'd finished, but no!

Trevor must have finished a bit early

Is it me or has Rachel McTavish dyed her hair dark ? Shocked

Yes, she's dyed her hair! She should have kept it blonde! (well, it kind of looked better that way)

The News Channel now has its own section on the ITV News website:

www.itv.com/news/Ncprogrammes.html (schedule etc)
and
www.itv.com/news/Ncpresenters.html (biogs of Harvey, Daybelge and McTavish)

Hmmmmmmm, I can't help but wonder why they are continuously using the CSO studio for the News Channel. Part of me thinks maybe they've moved all the NC cameras to the new studio, but whatever happens, there's no way they're going to cover a war from where they are now. Seeing as war is expected in the next few days, I wonder if they'll unveil the new look this Monday? We were told March I believe. It would make sense...

Bit surprised by the Mary Nightingale bit on Sunday

Edit: looking at those timings, does that mean they're not simulcasting with ITV1 at the weekend?

Combining the apparent lack of simulcast with the ITV1 bulletins at the weekend with Phil's observations about the use of the CSO studio today, there's definitely something afoot at Gray's Inn Road

If it helps, I've just sent an e-mail to ITV News, should get a reply soon, but it may not be until Monday, as I'm on holiday...

I'd absolutely love the new look to launch in the next few days. But I don't really see how a lack of simulcast implies this is going to happen - surely if they were putting a new set in, then the simulcast WOULD happen, as they'd be using the cso set for everything.

Would love to be wrong though! Maybe one of the ITN guys on here can let us know...

EDIT: Oh, I've just realised what everyone's talking about - sorry! The new studio could be in a different place...... But do the ITV NC and ITV News have different cameras?

[wild speculation]

Could the main ITV1 bulletins this weekend be using the CSO studio, with the news channel relegated to the old ITN NC studio?
