As already mentioned Alistair Stewart is on from 3pm tommorow.

Take a look at who the Sky EPG say is presenting the 2pm shift..

Someone called Heather Mctavish apparantly! Shocked

looking at the Sky EPG in more detail, Friday looks like this

7.00am Rachel Mctavish
10.00am Heather McCarthy
11.45am Rachel Mctavish
12.30pm ITV Lunchtime News with Katie Derham
1.00pm Katie Derham
2.00pm ***
3.00pm Alistair Stewart
5.45pm Steve Scott
6.30pm ITV Evening News with Mark Austin & Katie Derham
7.00pm Steve Scott
8.00pm ITV News Network with John Suchet
9.00pm Steve Scott
11.00pm ITV Weekend News with John Suchet
11.30pm Lloyd Bracey

*** Heather Mctavish, its probably the Heather part of that which is right, as the Mctavish part has already done two shifts!

Why does the ITV news channel have breaks between presenters, is this to give them a breather. I was always thinking that it would be a stop gap rearranging the rotas with what would lead to a double headed bulletin, especially with the expected war, I thought it would be much better for breaking news. It also seems odd to get in some news presenters in to do just a ine hour slot, can anyone eaplain there thinking behind it??

The ITV News Channel now has a ticker running smoothly along the bottom of the screen!

It is not as offensive as other tickers and is a great addition to the channel.

I wonder whether it will appear on the ITV1 simucast programmes?

Sorry about the quality.

I think it's a nice ticker, but I'm not sure it fits in with the studio and titles.

That's not bad actually...

Do you think that this is a sign of things to come...

I wonder how Kirsty Young is getting on on 5 News, its a pitty she had to leave ITV News

I suppose its a toss up between presenting the news in a style you like, or presenting to the most viewers, and Kirsty chose the former.

The thing is the current style of Five News is no different to any other news programme. In fact, I think ITV News is more relaxed now than Five, and if she'd had stayed, it would probabley be Evening News with Kirsty and Katie.

five has become a lot more conservative lately. I watched the news special on iraq last night and it was very stale compared to what it used to be like. I feel that this is down the studio / newsroom that they operate from now as it doesnt give them more scoop for the variety of camera angles and presenter movement that there used to be.

Finally was thinking last night, is five the only studio where everything that appears to be there actualy is instead of projections fake backgrounds

A cracking Lunchtime News today with Katie Derham. In the first 10 minutes of the programme, we were treated to LIVE's from New York, Baghdad, Kuwait and Westminster.

Interesting that Alastair Stewart's first stint on the News Channel will be to cover the last Blixx report. I'm personally looking forward to seeing him back. One wonders whether he's out having a champagne lunch with Mannion and Purvis before he starts.
