Well thats good news. Although £1.6m is hardly that much. At least it means they're not ignoring it. Hopefully we'll actually see some reporters on location from now on.

The ITV News Channel has been handed a cash boost in the region of £1.6m by Carlton and Granada, as the channel approaches its first year anniversary as an ITV branded proposition.
The channel, which was changed from the ITN News Channel to the ITV News Channel last year, has seen its viewing figures rise by 47% since re-launch, according to executives at the broadcaster.
Since re-launch the editorial team, headed up by editor Dominic Crossley-Holland, have changed the channel, including producing rolling news coverage of the war, much of which was simulcast on ITV1.
ITV News Channel claims to have been the first to break a number of stories, including Alistair Campbell’s resignation, the IRA decommissioning statement and the downed US helicopter in Iraq.
ITV controller of news Steve Anderson said: "The new money reflects ITV’s commitment and our desire to build on its remarkable success since re-launch."
Crossley-Holland, ITV News Channel editor added: "Carlton and Granada’s generosity is a huge vote of confidence in the entire ITV News team.
The cash comes as rival BBC News 24 prepares to re-launch on 1 December to take in recommendations from last year’s Lambert report. The report called for the channel to be more distinctive and make better use of its regional and international correspondents.

Bit of a mess at the top of the hour on the NC (1500). Didn't start until 1502, and after the titles at the shot of the studio there was no-one in the chair and half the studio lights were off, then it went in to a shot of Leyla.
:-(
Yes, I noticed that at 3pm they went to the old outdated breakfiller, and then as the camera showed the aerial shot of the studio, there was no presenter in the seat, at first I assumed Leyla may be at the big screen, though it was evident she was not.
Also, after that they did not use the screen when doing interviews or going to live reporters.

Presumably Leyla was sat in the CSO studio, but noone told whoever lined up the shots.
