Ever so slightly off topic, but I've just seen a rather cringeworthy scene of Sir Trevor McDonald attempting to box Frank Bruno on the Tonight programme!

I thought that was fab, showed a very human side to Trevor, when a lot of people on her complain that he's wooden. He can't win !!!

Yes I agree, he was also a guest on the ITV Lunchtime News today having a chat with Nick about the show.

Trevor's having a good week really isn't he, special acheivement award and now an excluisive interview on Tonight where its actually Trevor doing the interview rather than Martin Bashir. Notice how Bruno chose Tonight rather than "Real Story with Fiona Bruce"!

Indeed. My Opinion of Trev has changed greatly in the past week. He seems to be a lot more relaxed in real life - and thats just how authorative he is on air. He was good on the lunchtime news having a laugh with nick about his left fist - i bet they call it "trevs trembler" Wink

I was joking! People on this forum don't have a sense of humour sometimes! Ithought it was quite a nice scene and i'll think you'll find I was on your side when we defended Trevor getting that award!

I have a wicked sense of humour thanks, or maybe it's just that you found nobody agreeing with your comment, so passed it off as a joke. If not, perhaps you need to signpost your jokes a bit better next time. Laughing

Try reading that NTA thread, and then get your facts straight.

With there being no Rugby World Cup action this week means the overnight newsreader gets more live time on air. Which is good news for Owen fans. For the last few weeks they've been showing the Highlights at 12-1am meaning only 11-12pm was live news from Owen or John Draper

Can anyone shed any light on this story from Broadcast?

I get the daily emails but my subscription has lapsed so I can't read the rest of it!

I feel it was more to do with the presenter, Trevor McDonald interviewing him. onight doesn't use Trevor that much for reports and it was nice to see him do one for a change. I really enjoyed the programme. I thought it was well made by Granada, and that Bruno was well interview by Sir Trev.

Just for the record:-

Half way through Prime Minister's question time today at 12:00 - 12:30 ITV News Channel broke away from the coverage to allow a live interview with the school involved with the pupil whom was stabbed and died from his injuries.

SKY News stayed with the PMQs throughout and BBC News 24 broke into their PMQ coverage many minutes after ITV NC to show the same interview that ITV NC showed live.

I still cant make my mind up which channel took the right decisions to cover what - but it was refreshing to have the choice of turning over and catching a different live event rather than all three covering exactly the same stories at the same time!

Well done ITVNC for being brave enough to chop the PM off for some 'real' news!
