Is it me, or is Chris Rogers just truly awful? He looks as though he has a dishcloth on his head and can't read the autocue properly. The latter, one would think, would be quite important if you want to read the news.

I think Chris is usually very good. He is an excellent anchor usually and handles breaking news well and is great at interviewing stubborn guests.
He can make a joke when necessary and can have the right mode for different types of news.
He is much better than some news anchors and I think is an excellent one.

I disagree. I don not like his style of presenting at all and his breaking news handling was awful. Recently there was a breaking news story on the ITV News channel (can't remember what it was) and he just sat there looking down at the desk going "erm..... umm.... hang on.... some breaking....... ummm..... hmm..... ...... ...... ........ ........ ....... ........ .... breaking news here ...... umm .......... yeah."

I remember he made a joke about Mary Nightingale a few weeks a go, which I don't think she was best pleased. She was telling us on the NC what was coming up on the Evening News, and with her problem speaking, she couldn't speak for a few seconds, Chris said to go and get a glass of water, but Mary didn't see the funny side and went hmmm.

Yeah, well lets see you sit at a desk ,with people shouting in your ear and words popping up at an alarming rate on the computers in front of you. I've seen him handle breaking news terrifically (e.g Alistair Campbell's resignation, Dr. Kelly's disappearance). So I don't think you should base your opinion of somebody on one sighting.

For the IDS vote the ITV Evening News continued over on the ITV News Channel and coming in after 7.30pm to cover it is Alastair Stewart. It's a shame they haven't got a dual anchored system in place to cover this.

LOL at the cartoons on the ITV News tonight in John Ray's report! And at the woman who individually disses the leadership candidates ( "Oliver Letwin" - "twit")

Yes. And it does it really justify a posting?

Yeah, I have seen it before and it didn't really make that much difference. I think we can let ITV News off for the late start last night because of Iain and Duncan Smith's resignation.

If ITV cut back Emmerdale, Corrie and the Bill so that they started on time, and thus News at Ten started on time, and if it finished at the same time it currently does (about 31 past on a 5 past start time) then we could well have a full 30 minute News at Ten bulletin and if they did that and improved the content it could well beat BBC 10 easily. I don't know why they don't try that.

Does posting "does it really justify a posting?" justify a posting?

Ha, ha Marr superstar
Bag of celebratory peanuts to Andrew Marr for making the news on ITV last night. Just after the Tories IDS dumped, an excited Marr revealed "rumours" were ricocheting around Westminster that David Davis was not going to run for the leadership. Poor ITV, at the same time, was making a futile attempt to get in touch with political editor Nick Robinson, who was yapping on his mobile (trying to stand the story up, he later revealed). But seconds later ITV managed to catch up courtesy of Tory MP Crispin Blunt, who revealed (to the horror of ITV bosses, no doubt) that he had just been interviewed by the BBC, where Marr had reported Davis was standing down. Small world, the media village, small world.
