Not 1 of the three news channels showed david leave his box in london live at around 9:30 pm. I saw brief coverage on sky news at ten at about 10:15 pm as for the itv news channel and bbc news 24 I did not see anything about it.

The news update with Andrea only had 4 stories on 1) blairs health scare. 2) london undergroung train derailment. 3) attack in Ramalah and 4) the attack on a munitions truck in falluja.

Not forgetting sporadic appearance by Andrea Catherwood, Bill Neely, Shuilie Ghosh etc.

And don't forget weekend news anchor and sports anchor Felicity Barr. She also co presented the 1pm section of the hour long lunchtime news during the war.

I don't normally read the Financial Times, but I was handed a free copy this morning at Waterloo station.

Anyway, the Creative Business section had an interesting piece by Richard Tait (former ITN editor in chief).

Apparently the new ITV News company being set up as part of the Granada-Carlton merger (to be run by Clive Jones and managed by ITN) will be responsible for all regional news in England and Wales, the News Channel and the ITV1 national news.

He also writes about the ITV heads of news meeting which was held last week in York

Tait cites LNN as a test case for the new style of regional news

What was the point of that Men in Tights programme? They might as well have taken the Arsenal game up until 10.00 and then had the news, and then perhaps put that programme at 10.35. (My main point is the news, by the way, not the programme!)

Tonight, there is a short news update at 10.30pm and then the main news is at 11pm, much later than usual. Both with Katie Derham.

I entirely agree with you, I said the same thing last night. Why not leave the Match on until 2200 and then have the Main News on, on time.?.

And what's this about tonight's news, brief update at 2230 and then the main news at 2300.

Roll on the new Programme at 2230 from January or whenever it is.?. Then we know we have the ITV News at a regular time or hope to anyway.

On another subject Shulie Ghosh, has anybody seen or heard anything of her.?. I haven't seen her on ITV News for ages.

I would much rather ITV cut 2 mins off Emmerdale and removed one of the 6 Emmerdale programmes (might actually be 7 next week, not sure) to ensure that the News at Ten was on 5 nights a week at 10pm exactly with enhanced content, removal of Trevor McDonald, and a full length 30 minute programme with just a 1/2 minute break. Although it may be better than the current option, I don't particularly like the idea of News at Ten Thirty.

I'm guessing and hoping Shiulie is about to return after Maternity Leave.

Thanks for answering my question.

I too would rather have News At Ten, I was just saying it will be better because we should have a definate time with the new option.

I must say News At Nine would have been a good idea.

The news is on late tonight because of the X-Men film (quite good actually, I'm watching at the mo). If you want your news at 10, then switch over to 1. It was about time ITV saw sense and provided an alternative.
