to stop this over taking the Home and away thread:

along with Home & away ( which went anywere BUT shown on the same day

Crossroad ( until 87) Sons and Daughters, and Blockbuster also filled up the slots

I still can't understand, was Blcokbuster Shown 5 times aweek in most area?

( HTV was only 3 times a week)

when was CITV shown? if TWS was able to get away with the 3.27 slot?

I also sure Murders she wrote appeared in teh ealry 90's aswell
in STV it was Monday & Fridays at 2.35pm not anywhere eles

CITV was shown at 3.55pm I think, so there was a half hour slot available at 3.25pm after the mid afternoon news which was about 3.10pm/3.15pm, and most regions used the 3.25pm slot for Sons and Daughters.

blue heelers was fab and lasted almost right up till the end of the regional afternoon sched's on central - when the available time was slashed they even went as far as chopping the 1hr eps in half and showing them on a friday. when shortland street was moved to tea time central did try and promote it - even getting some of the cast over from new zealand and talking to them on central news. we liked our antipodean soaps here in the midlands!

i still don't think the standardised afternoon schedule comes anywhere close to matching what we once had. yes more of it is home grown - but its formulaic rubbish.

murder she wrote was shown at 7pm on central in the early 90s at one point.

not forgetting gardening time with howard drury - however that was more lunchtime - was that just on central, or was it networked?

gardening was revived, briefly, when central got mavis wilton from corrie presenting simply gardens (i think). then there was top to toe with denise welch from corrie. our house with suzie becker.

at one point central used to show a westcountry programme where a woman would make greetings cards and little boxes - quite well made. probably the only ever time i saw a westcountry end cap up here in central land!

I went looking:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockbusters_%28game_show%29

Did anyone Actully show it 5 times aweek at 5.15? for the the full 10 years?

aslo TT never showed 100 Eposide.

and when it finsed in 93, how many station still had plenty epsoide to show?

this Time slot is a Dog dinner!

i;m lost now!

That's quite spooky - look what's on at 8.30pm. World in Action doing exactly the same as Tonight did tonight!

World in Action was far better than what we have now though.

..and people say ITV has gone downhill.

Look at the amount of imported crap in that first schedule. A Country Practise, S&D, H&A (twice), Runaway Bay, The Equalizer, Donahue, Riveria.

Thank God for ITV4 keeping this kind of rubbish off the main channel.

I remember programmes like Shortland Street and 3D with Julia Summerville. Also remember News At Ten, that was a great news programme and also when the ITV news was on at 5.40pm.

People slate ITV like mad, but within the last ten years the amount of imports during the Daytime and Night time has reduced alot!

People might not like what we have now, but it's either homemade or a new programme, better than an old rerun anyday IMO.

S&D wasn't too bad, but I hated A Country Practice and Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman whenever I caught Daytime TV.

I was disappointed in 1993 when they dropped the 12.10pm slot for Kids shows, but saying that I was also disappointed that Rainbow had disappeared aswell. But I remember that they moved the Regional News to 12.20pm (rather than 1.05pm) and Coronation Street also gained a Daytime repeat too which lasted for the best part of a decade.

But on the same level it was nice to see Childrens ITV at 3.30pm rather than 3.50pm.

I seem to remember a DIY show in the Meridian region called Doing It Up - featuring the late Patti 'Open Air' Caldwell and her then husband. It aired in the ITV afternoon slot just before CiTV in the mid-nineties.

Yeah, perhaps I should have saved that for the Strangest Regional Programming thread. Confused
