I don't understand why they've kept classic Who in such a stupid slot considering the success of the new series.
Not so long ago, they actually played the shows in episodic format at around 6pm on weekdays. Surely this would be a great place to put it again?
As for the B&W episodes, they don't have the rights to them, so that's why they don't show them.

Think I read somewhere that they only had renewed the rights to SOME of the colour episodes now as well. (Probably Tom Baker onwards?)

Gold haven't shown the first 3 Doctors stories for years. Probably since the merger in 97 and I was doing the announcing up till then and new what I was talking about. lol
A couple of weeks ago they showed the last Sylvester McCoy story and this week we've got Colin Baker so I've no idea what the hell they're playing at with their transmissions

If i'm right they don't play any of the Dalek stories at all because of some problem with the Nation estate.
To be honest i'm rather glad they don't play the B&W ones, because if i remember the copies they have are butchered and aren't very good quality. They even for some obscure reason pasted a new [B][B][C] logo onto the 1963 howl-around title sequence. God knows why...

To answer the question of UK Gold, the most recent full run did Tom Baker through to the end of McCoy, but the current run skipped Colin Baker, did the McCoy stories before Christmas, and is now screening the Colin Baker stories. Then in February its back to the Jon Pertwee era for the first time in ages.

i have heard uktv gold are not going to show the tom baker era no more. but they are going to show the pertwee era again! (apart from the dalek stories!)

It's more than rumoured, but not until April 10th (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2006/01/25/29086.shtml), followed in May by Inferno .

The good news is that Genesis of the Daleks is rumoured to be coming out on DVD in march. One of the best stories ever.
