don't you think the bbc should re-run the old doctor who again?
i rather enjoyed it when they did in 1999 on bbc two.
i know you can get them on DVD/VHS or see it on UK Gold but it would give young people a chance to realise there's been more than 2 doctors!

The trouble with the 1999 showings was that they did not attract a large enough aduience. However after the recent new series, Doctor Who has been brought to a whole new audience, which may now be intrestead in the classic Doctor Who. I don't think the show will achieve the necessary audience levels during prime time however, so i would say if they were to rerun the classic series it will probably be on BBC 2 on a Sunday lunchtime.

There was talk of repeating them when the 1st new series started. At this point, i think this would be a bad idea because people might associate it too much with the new series and go off it. But now that the series has gained a huge successful new base of viewers, and has been renewed for a new series, i don't see why they shouldn't repeat the classic series. Perhaps in the old cult slot, or maybe even an 11pm repeat like they did with Red Dwarf not so long ago.

I think it's a good idea. I wish they would repeat the whole Peter Davison era and I could relive my childhood lol. Surely having Doctor Who re reruns at whatever time even late at night would be a good thing?

Given the recent reappearance of The Avengers on BBC Four, could there be a chance of a showing there?

Last time I checked:

Weekend mornings: A chronological loop, running from the 3rd Dr's first story, up until the 8th Dr's one TV-movie, then back to the 3rd Dr's first story again.

Selected 1st/2nd Dr stories (those that are actually complete in the archive) sometimes get shown in random mid-week graveyard slots, too.

They do? I haven't seen any since about late 1998. Will be interesting if they've brought them back.
