Anyone help me out with this one?

Aired on Channel 4 (I think) on afternoons, and was about a talking antique rocking chair.

Can't remember the name of it, anyone?

I thought it was a BBC Two show but Wikipedia agrees with you regarding Channel 4.

I remember Sesame Street moving to 12.30pm, why did it get the axe?

How did the scheduling work out for CITV? Because if I recall, didn't they used to end at 5.10pm? How did the scheduling work - I can only assume with the weird end time there was some unorthodox start and end times!

4.20

In the days of Watch It! it was 4.15pm to 5.15pm (which meant a 30 minute programme could fit in between that and the News at 5.45), then when Childrens ITV arrived (January 1983), it became 4.00pm to 5.15pm, then taking a long shot, 1989 when the News gained an extra 5 minutes, it became 3.55pm-5.10pm, then 3.50pm-5.10pm, when the Lunchtime slot was dropped, it became 3.30pm-5.10pm, then it got bigger and bigger.

When ITV cocked their schedules up in 1999, CITV finished at 5.00pm, but it later changed to 5.05pm and then back to 5.00pm.

I really doubt that, there was NO ad breaks during the shows, but there were ad-breaks between the programmes.

When they originally ended at 5.15pm, there was the " under fives " programme at 4pm, they animation / cartoon at 4.15pm ( such as Rub A Dub, The Moomins, Dangermouse ), then two more programmes at 4.20pm and 4.45pm.
There was a variation on this I think such as Alias The Jester was shown at 4.45pm, then another 15 minute prog at 5pm.

Probably because the Jim Henson company came up with The Hoobs, which was a British production, so Channel 4 probably thought this was better for UK kids.

Although these days there is a new version of Sesame Street airing on the Disney Channel which includes British Muppets (and I don't mean Gordon Brown & Tony Blair!)

ahh the Golden age of children's programmes on ITV.

What went wrong, apart from the trialled strip idea - which sent viewers flocking and started he downfal of Childrens programmes and programming on ITV! It was NEVER the case of loss of advertising (i.e. fast food /junkfood) it was their ineptitude that killed the genre on the network!

Ineptitude being stripped programming, continual reduction of investment, and accountants who do not believe in children.

But isn't it funny that ITV still own Cosgrove Hall after all this time - now why haven't they sold it off? Because its profitable for the company and shareholders - a bit of a contradiction I believe!

And then the BBC copied them with strip programming... Rolling Eyes
