It's definitely not the first time an erection's been shown on TV. During Channel 4's Banned season in the early 90s, a programme called Sex And The Censors featured a sequence with two men fighting naked whilst both fully aroused. Believe me, you remember these things when you're a hormone-crazed fourteen year old, as I was at the time!

I believe Channel 4 got a massive fine and a seriously huge telling-off for this programme, although IIRC, not for this scene in particular - other parts of the programme were much more controversial.

Talking about that, Channel 4 is planning another Banned season this March.

Didn't Horizon show a computer-generated one on a show about Viagra. Not sure if this counts.

Cornwall appears to be a slightly more relaxed version of the rule.

Excuse my mirth!

Don't you mean a slightly LESS relaxed version of the rule?

There has been a programme on Five which has been shown a couple of times called, 'The Joy of Sex Education', which showed some clips of 1970's Sex education films of both men and women masturbating, which was unedited, the film itself was telling you how to masturbate!
