Albeit seen through an infra-red camera, but was this week's Money Programme about Viagra the first programme ever to show an erect penis on British television? I'm surprised no-one's mentioned it until now.
(And yeah, I know there was that pixelated one on Joan Bakewell's "Taboo", but you couldn't really see it. Though JB looked impressed.)
Am sure I saw an erection on Sex Inspectors - not filmed in infra-red but by one of those cameras which shows how hot/cold different things are. Y'know, heat sensitive.
Cornwall appears to be a slightly more relaxed version of the rule.
Essentially a penis that appears in profile at a higher angle than Cornwall is on the map, is not allowed. The Mull of Kintyre appears to be rather prudish.

Thanks. I'd never compared Cornwall to a penis before, but now you mention it...
It's definitely not the first time an erection's been shown on TV. During Channel 4's Banned season in the early 90s, a programme called Sex And The Censors featured a sequence with two men fighting naked whilst both fully aroused. Believe me, you remember these things when you're a hormone-crazed fourteen year old, as I was at the time!
I believe Channel 4 got a massive fine and a seriously huge telling-off for this programme, although IIRC, not for this scene in particular - other parts of the programme were much more controversial.
