So has the "South Bank Show" been axed ?

No it hasn't, ITV recently renewed it until 2009, it must be on a break at the moment.

I didn't see all of OFI last night, I wasn't that impressed, a good effort, but for me it just didn't work, plus I didn't see much point of inflatable boobies. But it makes a change to Sunday night TV, usually when TSBS is off air it gets replaced by something similar of a minority interest or the F1, but nice to see this in it's place.

But as others have said, give it a few weeks to settle.

OFI hasn't really replaced the South Bank Show timeslot-wise. SBS was on at 11.10 in its most recent run, OFI starts at 10.30.

I liked the show, very good for a Sunday Night when there is hardly anything else on.
I don't have any caps but was it just me or did I see a cartoony version of the new ITV logo in the titles, followed shortly by something similar a version of the current ITV1 logo on the tv set but with the new ITV lettering? Anyone who still has the show on tape/PVR etc check it out. It may just be me!

I was really disappointed. They broke a good formula just to prove that Chris had moved on. Ok, OFI Sunday isn't about getting drunk or watching bands...but it just doesn't have the same appeal . It didn't seem to directly involve the viewer apart from the odd phone call. With TFI, it kind of felt that you were one of the audience. That was the repore generated by the program. OFI felt rushed with no aim. 'I know, we need to fill a half hour slot, let's put Chris in there and see what happens'.

Comparing it to other programs on Sunday isn't really good enough, I'm afraid. Either the programs good or the program's bad. That's it.

I'm a Chris Evans fan. I don't want to him to fail and embarrass himself. The Big Breakfast, Don't Forget Your Toothbrush and TFI Friday were really good programs. OFI just feels flat. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it's on late on Sunday night. Maybe because I'm used to TFI.

I hope next week goes well. But I'd rather have Chris Evans bring back TFI Friday.

You're right. The new style logo was on the building front.

The show was awful, even worse then I expected in fact. As i thought it would - the show suffered greatly from Chris having a distinct lack of modesty. It was ALL about him - the ironic thing being he's not famous enough anymore for people to care about what he's been doing throughout the week, or whether or not he owns a silver toaster Rolling Eyes

The best parts of TFI were the interviews and the live music. introduce those elements to OFI and lose everything else -including king t*ats huge ego - and it could be good and refreshingly different show for Sunday night's.

Well I really enjoyed it.

Not sure why, but as others have said, it was something different to a sunday night, it's great to see Chris back on TV, and I like the set, titles and theme tune.

By the look of it with features and a quick guest spot, it's as though he's trying to get into the Letterman style programme. Hopefully all features won't be back, I enjoy programmes where ideas are quickly turned over, rather than dragging out weak ideas.

From Media Guardian-

And ITV1's strong Sunday night performance continued with an average of nearly 4 million people staying tuned to Chris Evans' return to television.

OFI Sunday, a new six-part chatshow format loosely based on Evans' Channel 4 hit TFI Friday, began with 5 million viewers at 10.30pm.

But by the end of the 45-minute show, the audience had halved to 2.5 million, fewer than the 3.3 million watching Notting Hill on Channel 4 between 11pm and 11.15pm.

-------

All round I think thats pretty impressive start for 10.30pm on a Sunday night but halfing th audience in the show can not be good...

I'm surprised the audience dropped by only 50%. I guess the other 50% were either recording it or asleep.

Personally I think Evans had his day years ago. He is an arrogant self-obsessive whose best feature was Billie Piper. I'm surprised he's been allowed back on mainstream TV.

I hope the show flops and is taken off within weeks (ITV can be benevolent to their audience sometimes with their rapid cancellation of shows.) Laughing

OFI Sunday really is poor television. I switched off after 15 minutes of tonight's show. It isn't really entertaining and Chris' conversation with the audience about his mother's knee operation was boring. And that "Who's going to bang this gong tonight" sung by that Hitten chap is cringeworthy. Rolling Eyes

I watched it last week, i feel he is trying too hard, overall i didnt like it, i feel i can see to many holes in it.

It's as if he's constantly building up to something funny or a gag and it just comes down with a boring bump everytime.

His mother's knee operation - what was that all about. Rolling Eyes

Also, note that he hasn't got any guests for next weeks show - or was that him 'being funny'.
