What do people think of Scottish TV Weather? I just saw it then, the maps are a bit impressive but it did seem to drag on for ages

If it's the same one as Grampian, (3D Flyover), I think it's good but as you said drags on. They should make the weather in widescreen, then maybe they could fit all their screenjunk on it.

What does everyone think about not being able to watch Sportscene on BBC ONE Scotland via Sky.

Did any one see the link into it on Sky? Straight after the weather the went into the caporeia ident with annoucement

"This is BBC One Scotland on Digital Satellite. Apologies we are unable to show Sportscence. However you may retune to BBC One Analogue to watch the latest coverage. Programmes resure here at 2.30 with the racing"

After that there was 2 1/2 hours of a purple caption telling us to retune to analogue.

I thought that the BBC still had some enryption for programmes that the nations cannot show to the rest of the UK.

Anyone else remember when STV did an East Coast opt during Scotland Today? I'm surprised they did away with it - that was years and years ago.

Ah yes indeed i remember Nick Radcliffe reading from the West and Caroline Dempster reading from the East around 1980.
John Toye ,Marion White and also Paul Murricane reporting .

STV did have their Gateway studios up until the early 1990s IIRC - would this have been used for the East opt-out? They still have a newsroom there but the main complex was sold to one of the Edinburgh colleges some time ago.

Scotland does have two broadcasting anomalities: one being Scotland's captial city being served by two Glasgow-based broadcasters, and the other is a substantial part being served by an English-based company (Border). I'm surprised this hasn't been sorted out...

Actually i remember when the studios on Leith Walk were called Scottish Television Colour Theatre that was way back in the 70's .

No.

I really like the weather forecast on Scottish TV/Grampian TV. It is very detailed and interesting to watch.

It's better now! No weatheman required. The weatherman made the bulletin look bad!

Lets face it's just another cheap way for SMG to produce it after all it is the duty announcer who records it and they sound bored !!!.
