See, you see. Do you see how influential this place is? Do you see with your eyes? We only have to say something in passing and those with the power are at our command -- and Runcorn Bridge is back again.

Oops, TVD, looks like you spoke too soon - paddling kids were back tonight.

Oh dear, I have a terrible feeling I'm beginning to sound like South Today over in his lonely thread. Embarassed

There was a nice cock-up at 6.30pm just before NWT, obviously it was BBC Manchester's fault, basically they played out the Tai Chi ident, but they kept the audio to BBC LDN, as you can hear "For your regional news...." and "Now on BBC One, North West Tonight......." at the same time, plus there was a slight delay and a noise which sounded like a video tape suddenly stopping or getting chewed up.

Anyone see Granada Reports too? Paul Crone on a high speeding bus was so funny.

Why does this keep happening to Manchester? Is the equipment that dated that it keeps breaking? Or is it all haunted? And the headlines have rewound and started again several times that I've seen, and I'm not exactly an avid viewer.

Mind you, Breakfast North West may still be poorly timed [except when Nigel's there, strangely..], but it's just not as entertaining as when Tina was in charge of the buttons *clunk*.

Back in the day when you'd get half of LDN before Tina would realise and press the big red button and move the camera onto her, acting as if nothing happened.

And then there's the two-minute coughing fit where she got *nothing* said at all, gave up and faded the bulletin to black. Tina's a star.

Anyone see Granada Reports tonight? Well you missed something very intresting..

They were doing a live link to somewhere in Manchester about the Diwali (Hindu New Year) Festival with Fred Talbot and this guy in the background comes to the camera and shouts that someone is f*cking w*nker on screen, but someone dragged him off screen and Fred kept it under control and pretends that nothing happened and did it very well. But it was much funnier when they went back to the studio as Lucy apologised for the "Interuption" to that link.

I don't know about the rest of you but I thought it was hilairious.

I thought it would be a good idea to revive the old thread. But I do it in good reason, if anyone saw Granada Reports tonight, it must have been the worst in the long time as everything kept going wrong, though it was rather funny.

1) Tony Morris was reading his line, cocked it up tried again, moved position to be away from that camera, then had to turn back to try again.
2) For about the last 20 minutes of the programme has squashed in 4:3 Letterbox mode, I don't know if this was NTL's or Granada's fault.
3) A VT report of the Samaritains help didn't play and went to a still of what was coming up by mistake, though Tony handled it no problem this time.
4) I switched over to see the end of a Crimefile report which seemed to just suddenly stop and then to Southport for a live link.

Tonight must have been the first time that they also were making use of the screens as one of the reporters was using the one behind Tony.

Though at NWT's end things were more calm, I also happened to notice a cameraman when I was walking up to college as he was filming traffic, basically this got a report on NWT about some Tory MP's for Warrington South and the last frame of the report was where I walked past this morning.

As an aside, I noticed about a week ago that 'ace' NWT reporter Sally Nugent seems to have defected (sorry, been promoted to BBC Sport).

Has she been replaced (haven't seen NWT in a while), as I remember Tony Morris doing several reports for BBC News 24, while still being attached to NWT. If Sally hasn't been replaced, then she may just be doing a few reports for BBC Sport.

Who's the presenter on the 2225 NWT tonight? I've never seen her before. Come to think of it, what's happened to Martin Henfield now? A couple of weeks ago I saw Carol Lowe on 2225, but no Martin for a good while. Where is he?

Martin only does weekends now, which is a shame to be honest.

It's usually Peter Marshall doing the 2225, since martin switched shifts. But there was a different woman doing the 3.25pm today, as it usually Gordon or Stuart, but it was a woman who I've never heard of.

I don't know whats happened to Sally Neugent, but she was on the One O'Clock News last week, rather oddly doing a live link at Leeds.

Awww that's a shame - Martin is one of the best presenters - along with Nigel Jay! It's a bit of a drop from presenting the main lunchtime and evening programmes on a regular basis in the mid-90s to just doing weekends now. Did Martin take over as one of the main presenters between Philip Hayton leaving and Gordon Burns arriving, or was there someone else in between there as well?!

Martin decided to move roles from Late presenter to weekends as it was causing problems at other events he was attending on an official basis, having to leave before the end to read the late bulletin.

Between Phillip Hayton and Gordon Burns Martin Henfield and Merryn Myatt filled in along with Nigel Jay and I think Julia Sharp (the late) covered a few more bulletins (she used to do the breakfast opts).

Talking BBC North West does anybody know why they no longer use traffic cameras during the breakfast broadcasts (hasn't been done for a LONG time) as BBC London have them.

Yeah there was an excellent woman presenting the late edition of NWT the other week when I saw it, she has definite co-presenter potential - but will NWT ever go down that route?
