Anyone in the north west jealous of new look Look East?!?!

Reuben, going around all the regional threads and posting the same bloody comment is not going to endear you to anyone. Give it a rest, mate.

sawwy neil
but who gets endearment in this forum anyways?!?!?

Well I can't think of anyone who doesn't like Neil. Maybe it's his natural turtle charm.

I notice you asked if people were jealous in all the English regional threads, but not the Welsh one -- at least you have some sense of danger.
RE

That's coz Wales Today is a class of it's own. It doesn't need to be jealous of England.

Nice to see that Granada News have changed their CSO studio. It looks a bit better now, with a yellow gradient on the bottom, it's not as dark any more.

yes, quite.

having only just ventured out of the midlands thread (hello hello whats all this shouting?! ours is a decent thread for decent people , theres nothing for you there) it does seem that mr reuben has soiled his pants over the relaunched look east, and is determined to smear his excitement in every thread possible.

theres nothing wrong with the new look look look look east, but mr reuben ought to realise people are quite capable of expressing their jealousy, indifference or what not without the need for him to fanny around the forum touting for interest.

all that has nothing to do with the northwest, but with neil being so sensitive and me being so influential, i felt i had to post this literary slap around the head for reuben.

But you've got to ask yourself, all that change and the most modern equipment *in the world*, and do they have the tip-top top-notch Breakfast info system -- delivering all the latest travel, weather and radio frequencies to the good people of the east? I rather think they don't.

Now.

Compared to Look East, Midlands Today and South Today, North West Tonight looks crap. I wouldn't mind seeing a no-desk look to NWT, it needs a kick up the arse in my opinion. Plus they need new equipment as NWT looks terrible on digital at times.

I don't think dinky chairs are what NWT needs, it won't suit the style of the programme, it's more newsy than the regions that have done away with their desk. They're more magaziney, which the three western English regions seem not to be.

Plus, those regions all have two presenters to chat to each other and fill up the big space with no desk -- Gordon would be very lonely. EMT have the one presenter on bulletins/weekend as an example, and it looks weird ~

NWT would be like this all the time -- stick a pot plant and a curtain there and it'd look like old-style IVC. Plus, as you can see, this may be a problem on the days Gordon wears a skirt.
And then there's the rather odd set-up and camera angles with the weatherperson and the spaceship portal ~

He could stand up all the time like on LDN, but that makes me anxious. They could mix desk and dinky chair-type activity, like Leeds do -- with Dianne joining him in the second half [I'd really like that].

I don't think we should underestimate the desk, it's a dying breed. I'd like to see NWT do well, perhaps they could start by timing the Breakfast bulletins better [even though Tina doesn't even self-op anymore] and put Runcorn Bridge [complete with cones] back on the titles again.

Shesh, she looks so uncomfotable in that chair. It's far too low.

As long as this is reasoned argument, then fine - remember that two members (MDR and David H) got the boot from the Forum a few months ago, for wittering on about 'which Central News is best for Coventry' and 'which Look North is best for York' respectively - don't let this debate get dragged down to that level!

Really??? They got kicked out the forum??? OK, enough said. I'll shut up now.

Back to the delightful north west programmes now...

I'd like to see a pic of the improved Granada News CSO studio. Anybody?

What they did was very extreme though - every thread referring to local news programmes ended up containing a reference to Central News and Look North Newcastle, and despite hints and warnings from the mods, they breached their warnings, and were banned. Your suggestions for an EMT look for NWT were perfectly reasonable, so I wouldn't worry too much! Very Happy

Of course, if I now say 'I'm not sensitive', I shall forever claim my place as the forum's sensitive one. Perhaps I should try and wrest that 'influential' crown from tvmercia's perfectly-sculpted coiffure.

Oh, I don't think so, dear. On the odd days he has to stand up now, he looks extremely uncomfortable - and (somehow) too tall for the set.

Just so long as you do not slash it in a pique of depression induced by the self appointed guardians of TVF.

Perhaps you could make some suggestions as to how Granada might learn to produce a more newsworthy magazine program from the example set by Anglia News?
