And as for the idents I don't think I should comment on them as they are so BAD!
The gmtv today ident is exactly the same except for the snow, right at the end.

Someone needs to complain the GMTV Exclamation

Yep, that donkeys year old backdrop doesnt help, the colour was all over the place this morning, with parts still that old redish colour, very poorly lit.

Get rid of the BACKDROP And bring on a new ONE!

Thing is, they did, but people complained that it was ugly.

Give them a backdrop of Newcastle, now that's style.

Eeek! That is rather poor! The idents just the standard one with some spinning snowflkes. Looks a bit naff. Couldn't they make them fall! At least that would have looked slightly better.

Anyway. Captures here:

And I've got the one from 2002 somewhere must try find it....

I'm sorry if any of the GMTV designers are reading this, but I saw the idents this morning and I think they really are quite bad! 100% improvement on what Sky, BBC, and ITV usually does with their graphics at Christmas though.

They do seem to be poor this year. They could have gone to more effort.
Like last year they made a new ident for Christmas, most probably to replace the 3 year old one.
I suppose the reason that they haven't used last years is because they now have a shiny GMTV logo, couldn't they have edited last years or something?

It looks as if they've simply added snowflakes over the top of the current ident, though at least they've bothered to add the christmas music.

It wouldn't be so bad if the snowflakes fell and moved around the screen, if they'd added a snow effect to the whole thing and darkened the background.

Plus GMTV Today could have done something, bar the snow at the end. Why couldn't the snow go all the way through with the sleigh bells that even this morning have added? I thing I'd have prefered bells added over like they bothered to do with Lorraines.

And as has been said the studio is rather bare for Christmas. What year was that capture from GMTV Journalist?
That looked very Christmassy, I don't remember it being like that before with those massive trees.

Why don't the set designer's have imagination?
Add a snowy scene behind, maybe add some red velvet curtains, garlands over windows, hanging snowflakes of different sizes, a garland around the desk, a bit of fake snow scattered over the desk, velvet cushions over the sofa, maybee a white furry rug under the desk, and around 5 trees, if they're going to be small fill the studio.

Christmas only comes once a year, and it's as though they can't be bothered!

The GMTV studio was better this morning with two extra trees added to the set, also the Weather had christmas graphics Very Happy

Perhaps others have complained. It wouldn't be bad for them to add some garlands though.

Though nothing to the graphics?

Oh well, all I'd say is either use last years main ident, or add a darker background and a lighter snow effect over the top.

I just caught a really good advert from GMTV last night, it had all the gmtv presenters and reporters dancing to a christmas song in their studio, it then came on to say Merry Christmas from GMTV

AFAIK the studio wasnt that well dressed until the Christmas day GMTV (today). Shame they dont do the xmas day broadcast as that used to be really good, but i guess there probably wasnt that many viewers. It was always with Rev. Steve Chalk and one of the female presenters.

What??

Oh no. In the studio?
It's the end of a trandition in the form of We Wish You a Merry Christmas being filmed and sung by the river!

It's a shame that the studio wasn't like that, but why did they go to all of that effort, why not have it like that for the whole festive season. What was it like before Christmas Day?

Eamonn & Fiona working Christmas Week??? What's going on? I know that Kate's ill, but couldn't they find somebody else to cover, maybe they could bring back Ester McVey!
