Who are these people who complain to Ofcom about petty little things?

Infact the current issue of Private Eye has a go at that small minded prat in the picture above.

Mediawatch UK claim that they are whiter than white and don't give quotes to any old news outlet when asked of a response.
So, say Private Eye - why does Mediawatch give quotes to the Daily Express, when it owner, still makes money from broadcasting the TVX group of channels - the output of which would obviously make the cretins that support Mediawatch go into immediate cardiac arrest - , and worse, has the Daily Express logo on it's website to claim they support the editorial line of the newspaper?

The reply back from Mediawatch was less than convincing, and rather weak.

Not surprising..

The other problem with that prat, is not only is he such a cretin but he also has the voice of a cartoon version of Ken Livingstone. Rolling Eyes

Oh dear, that kind of attitude obviously stems from you watching too much violence on television. Probably Homes Under the Hammer or something.

So, Ofcom bulletin 127 is available.

Entrants in the "Not in Breach/Resolved" include:

Hypnotic images on Eden channel idents.
Nudity on Brainiac. Oh those poor manikins.
Unconscious influence/hypnosis/subliminal content during the FA Cup on ITV last month.
Dangerous Behaviour and Nudity on TV Burp.
Most Haunted for usual reasons.
Dangerous behaviour during the Snooker. Apparently.
More violence on The Simpsons.
Nudity on The X-Factor Result Show.

Something's very wrong, somewhere. Many complaints about absolutely nothing.

Interesting to see a complaint for a channel not technically broadcast to the UK. I'm guessing that foreign channels that broadcast/are registered in the UK have to comply with British regulations (a la the watershed in the UK) rather than what might be acceptable in the country they broadcast to?

I wonder how the complainers knew to contact Ofcom about this and I wonder if their complaint was in English?

Channels that broadcast from the UK adhere to the Ofcom code. TV3 for Sweden broadcasts in that country but is actually based in the UK, hence it has a UK broadcasting licence. Apparently Sweden had tighter advertising rules than the UK did when the channel launched.
