That's what I was thinking.
As for "Such charges are outside the control of the broadcaster" , could this be OFCOM finally clearing the way for the ridiculous disclaimers to be scaled back, passing the responsibility back from the broadcaster and on to the phone companies and viewers themselves for being aware of any non-standard charges.
And surely they should be reviewing these "considerably higher" charges on mobiles anyway - how on earth do they justify the extra 50p charge?

This is interesting...
Callers who don't get through won't be charged, thats obvious but how are the BBC or their phone provider able to answer a call to a premium rate number which the "[callers] will hear a message explaining that their vote has not been registered" line seems to suggest and somehow stop the callers phone provider charging them the premium rate for the call? Is that technically possible now? Any telecoms experts know how they might be doing this?

The BBC confirmed that in September 2007 – therefore before any of the
programmes referred to in this Finding were broadcast – technical changes were
made so that callers who don’t get through or who call outside the voting ‘window’
are not charged * and will hear a message explaining that their vote has not been

Ofcom understands that in these circumstances a premium charge is not incurred but that
network charges applied by the caller’s telephone network provider may be still be charged.
Such charges are outside the control of the broadcaster.

New bulletin out today. Bit of a quiet one this time but as usual the "Other Programmes Not in Breach/Resolved" section makes for the most interesting reading, if only they would give more details.

What sex and/or nudity did someone think they saw on Going for Gold? Did someone really see violence on The One Show[2] on the 9th of December and something that maybe of interest to continuity fans, what did the continuity announcer on Five say that caused 3 people to complain?

Bulletin 125 is out today.
Sanctions on Channel S Ltd (for promoting the Lib Dems during the London Mayor elections last year), profanity on MTV, extreme scenes on Casualty and complaints about Rowan Atkinson.
Elsewhere in the ever interesting "Out Of Remit" section: Violence on Flog It! (?), Sex and/or Nudity on Going For Gold (also How To Look Good Naked, ironically enough), Generally accepted standards on X-Factor, our old friend Quiz Call for the usual reason and violence on The Simpsons.
(edit: wow, snap!)

Taking a curve but alot in the press today about Jason Gardener on Dancing on Ice being hauled in by bosses for saying Todd Carty looked like he was "crapping himself", leading to the inevitable public apology and admission he didn't know he didn't know the word "crap" was banned on TV. Perhaps Jason that's because it isn't and is used quite freely in pre-watershed TV elsewhere!

New one: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv/obb/prog_cb/obb126/
Contains the phrase 'The performer repeatedly used the words “son of a bitch” and spoke in a mock Italian accent so the pronunciation of the word “peace” sounded like “piss”, the word “sheet” sounded like “****”, and the word “fork” sounded like “****”.' and a complaint (not upheld) against a CBeebies show from 2001.

Are you absolutely sure about that, Brekkie?
That word was bleeped from an Outtake TV repeat on Watch - today.
I'd hate to think this was another example of you stating things as fact - when they're nothing of the kind.
