So the channel could, for example, become "888.com Challenge"?

"The sponsor's presence on the channel should not be unduly prominent, and broadcasters will be unable to name channels after the sponsor ."

We already have Gala TV, we had Exchange and Mart TV about a year ago too.

Gala Bingo don't sponsor the channel, they own it so it's a little different. If for example Tesco (wonder how long before they have their own TV channel Rolling Eyes ) wanted to sponsor E4, E4 couldn't rename itself TescoTV.

Yes my comments are not meant as insults to anyone, and i dont appreciate spiteful and snidy remarks, fair enough i agree some of my posts are not the best. im all for constructive criticism, but whats the point in these vengeful remarks.

oh shut up

I really don't understand how this would be implemented. Would there be sponsorship trails before the idents? Clearly not as it must be undue.

In which case - what would be the point of sponsoring a channel (from a sponsor's viewpoint) when at most you'd get a scabby logo at the bottom of trailers.

Plus how would TV channels cope with their precious BRANDING being damaged? Heaven forbid

What crawled up your arse and died? Don't be so nasty.

i do beg your pardon. i am simply challenging inane and lackluster contributions

I agree with Whataday.

Quite how you have the audacity, tvmercia, to criticise people for their "inane and lackluster contributions" is laughable considering it's coming from the person who writes in lowercase and scarcely posts anything positive or relevant.

Is the lowercase thing just ineptitude or trying 2 b cool lyk the kidz yeh?

Sorry to ask what might be a silly question, but how is this company spelt? It's just that I've seen their logo somewhere that spells it Ofcon, but I can't remember where.

OFCOM is a 'super-regulator', not a company (though it succeeds the G.P.O. which is also succeeded by the company, British Telecommunications plc. and the still state-owned Royal Mail.).

Officially its abbreviation is spelt 'OFCOM', though their logo is 'Ofcom - Office of Communications'.

To quote 'Wikipedia':

"The short form of the name is given as OFCOM (all capitals) in the Communications Act 2003, which established the Office of Communications. Ofcom itself uses the mixed case form seen here, which is also the more widespread in the media.".

So 'Ofcom' isn't 'wrong'.

That's not what he was asking. If you read what you quoted carefully, you'll see he was referring to "Ofcon", as used in Simon L's signature.

I can't think of any scenario where people would ask for the divvel that Del Monte spouts.

EDIT: And within two minutes I am proven wrong. Please visit this thread R.D.M. and sort it out
