This week sees the annual Milk Cup tournament on the Ulster Riviera, but for the first time in years, and the first time I can remember, BBC NI has grabbed the rights to show coverage from UTV, with coverage starting tomorrow night with regular updates.

Stephen Watson will be presenting the special programmes, while Jackie Fullerton will be providing commentary. I wonder where they used to work... Smile

Does anyone think that with the BBC snatching the Milk Cup rights it will mean a different slant to coverage? Better or worse? More professional or amateur?

You can watch the coverage online... (the media player will be online from tomorrow).

Just looking at the site there so far, looks like the BBC has put a fair bit of planning, and I'd guess their resources, into their Milk Cup coverage.

What next - thieving UTV's only remaining local sports event, the North West 200 - and maybe show the races on the Saturday live instead of waiting until Thursday? Smile

UTV havent even bothered with end to end this year, has that been something to do with Gaa rights.

I reckon UTV are either cutting back on Frank Mitchell screen time (5 hours a week is surely enough!) or just not bothering to spend any money on new programmes.

Mr Mitchell is so talentless. I've met him too, and he's such a prima donna.

BBC2 NI's coverage of the Milk Cup final was all right, though they didn't quite manage to show all the pitch... Rolling Eyes

I think the BBC gained the rights last year, this was their second time on the Beeb.
