What has happened to Peter Marshall? We havent seen him in over a month from when Carol/Tina took over the late night bulletins, then we had Carol/Martin and now we seem to have Annabel Tiffin. What is going on? Anybody? And another thing, Peter presented his last bulletin on a Tuesday then did a report from the Isle of man on the Friday.... has he gone home?

I don't think Gordon is on tonight too.

Peter Marshall was on last week, well on CiN night following some people walking 10 miles while playing Tiddly Winks.

About time Gordon had some time off, he seems to be on all the time, never seems to have a break, so I guess this one is probably well deserved. Though I did see Annabel Triffin doing the 3.20 once but I think Gordon came in later.

BTW Hasn't the technical part of NWT been poor lately, Monday's lunchtime and Tuesday's Breakfast were appauling with things not playing and autoque's going wrong.

So maybe a chance for Annabel Tiffin or Martin! I remember Martin did present the main programme in summer.

Granada News was a bit the same this lunchtime, we even got Tony saying "Well, this has been an interesting bulletin" halfway through a report. Most of the reports were cut off at the end and there was a tone playing through one report.

I heard him say that on Granada News today. Yeah they have been bad but i think NWT has ben the worse every time i see it there seems to be something wrong. Very Happy

Gordon was back on tonight, doing the 6.30 even though he didn't do the 3.25.

Here's just a list of what was going wrong on Monday and Tuesday.

Arrow Gordon reading the wrong story
Arrow Autoque's not up to scratch.
Arrow A Big Camera appearing during the weather which moved suddenly as they realised they're on screen.
Arrow The end titles not stopping
Arrow Microphones being left on at the end
Arrow A Trailer being played out with the NWT music on it by mistake.
Arrow The Trailer being left on pause
Arrow VT's not coming on at the right time or being rewound on screen.
Arrow Live Links with dodgy sound
Arrow Apologies for bad mistakes

The BBC ought to think of building BBC Manchester some new facilites or giving them some new equipment at least, as it is knackered, not Widescreen compatible and I still have a funny feeling it's been transmitted in Mono.

Are you sure it's not in Widescreen? I'm sure it was last time I stumbled past Gordon Burns Tonight.

Well techinically it is and it isn't, it is as if you watch it on analogue it's in 14:9, if you watch it on Digital you can alter the settings on your box so it can be watched on a Widescreen TV or whatever. But it isn't as they don't have the proper facilities to do so, it explains why if you're watching on Digital the picture isn't full as there are 2 small black bars on the side of the TV, it also explains why the idents they play out are awful, as they are cropped, it's why it doesn't look as nice in 16:9 when you compare it to the main BBC News, but this is common in most English regions as most centres currently don't have the facilities to transmit in proper widescreen.

No, BBC North West remains in 4:3 - although I think they still fake widescreen by adding black bars, making it 14:9. It definitely isn't in true 16:9, as when watching on Sky, there are massive bars down the sides.

Something really is going wrong of late - all of the problems mentioned above, plus the presenter schedules are becoming boring now - I'm fed up of Gordon Monday-Friday. Why can't they either:

a) get a female co-presenter
b) alternate presenters for the main programme (e.g. between Gordon, Martin, and possibly Annabel Tiffin?)

I am quite impressed with Annabel - from what I've seen, she could be the perfect co-presenter for Gordon. I don't think Tina would suit - she's much more amusing on the early shift!
