North East Today, normally 1430 Monday to Friday on Tyne Tees has not reappeared in the schedules as normal following its Christmas break, which is a blow to my wage packet (but not to my sensibilities).
Does anyone (philliplavelle perhaps?) know if it is to return after the current replacements finish their run?
I believe it is axed, yes. TTTV announced it was to end in its last annual statement, as part of ITV's dilution of regional services (which of course TTTV were "delighted" to announce -- yeah right).
Where this leaves poor Pam Royle YET AGAIN is anyone's guess.
I think ITV took the decision to do away with extended afternoon news programmes some time last year. Main casualties were North East Today and London Today. LT finished some time in the autumn and I think the same has happened to NET as well.
North East News continues in the same slot as all other regional news bulletins -- 15:05.

Don't forget the lunchtime Westcountry live, which also fell by the wayside sometime last year.
Central, London, Wales, West all get Shortland Street on Mon-Wed and local programmes on a Thursday. Friday has been networked with a programme about antiques.
Has anyone noticed that we are slowly losing the afternoon local slots? We used to get it weekdays at 1pm and on a Friday a further 3 slots from 1.30-3.00 but now we just have 4 slots.
It's a bit funny that the regional afternoon slots are continuing, but they arn't allowed to continue making the daily shows, if they were coming to an end, like was thought at one point, then maybe, but with Shortland Street continuing, the rest may as well show new programming.
I did a bit of a flick around the channels at 3.05pm this afternoon, and Tyne Tees is one of very few regions that doesn't use one of the 6pm presenters for this bulletin, YTV do, Granada do, Central do, London do, Meridian do...
But Granada are allowed to make The Afternoon Show every day of the week [and how great is that..?] -- why can't that principle be extended to all regions if they so desire?
Instead of showing all the stuff that YTV did in the 14:30 slot, i.e. a different thing each day of the week -- why can't they show a daily half-hour news bulletin, if that's what they choose to do with their 14:30 slot?
Indeed, is the 14:30 slot returning on a weekly basis any time soon? On the listings for next week -- Out Of Town, When We Were Kids, and Tall Tales and Antique Sales are shown everywhere Mon-Wed, and Friday. Thursday is the only regional 14:30 slot!

Yes, North East Today was axed in the early summer. Calendar Lunchtime Live was also axed and Granada's lunchtime programme finished in the summer but they decided to continue with NE Today til Xmas.
There is a new programme called 'Call Dr Jane' which has been earmarked to take over one of the weekday slots. I think another is the new 'Getaway' series.
But yes, sadly North East Today is no more

Granada's lunchtime programme 'Lunchtime Live' is the same thing as 'The Aftrenoon Show' as far as I can tell, same studio and everything just different name.
'Call Dr Jane' has been shown on Yorkshire for a few months now, it's presented from the Calendar soft set.
