I've just heard that Tyne Tees are unable to broadcast anything from their City Road studios because of flooding yesterday. Their main control room was affected along with other areas of the building.
So far today everything has come from the Teesside studio.
Must have been quite a downpour in Newcastle!

According to Look North Lunchtime the Bilsdale transmitter is off on analogue only and:
" Digital and Satellite services are unaffected "

Bit ironic that.
Newcastle can't use their studio but the transmitter is working.
Teesside has a studio but no transmitter......
In the past of course this would have meant no Tyne Tees

Looks like there are 2 probs - one of them being the total lack of power to site. DTT usually has a generator backup, but UHF analoge TV requires such a substancial power supply that normally a 2 times 11Kv supply from different directions is it.
The other problem may be water ingress into the feeders or combiner. The mast and buildings are not on the absolute crest of the hill, flood water could still run down and enter the tx equipment areas causing damage.

Strange really as there must only be a few weeks until the whole thing at City Road closes. Isn't it July when they move to Gateshead?
Maybe it's an omen

Suppose the Thames Flood barrier failed to operate, and Kent House were flooded, and then there was a strike in Leeds over job losses. Whoops.... no ITV!

Strawson's Sheep doesn't half come out with some c***p. Both ITN and Quay street could cope with some sort of sustaining service, the adverts would be all in the wrong sort of places though.

First Border, Now Tyne Tees - God is very angry with ITV1
Quite funny on tonights NET - Mike Neville actually said "ITV1 Tyne Tees's studios in City Road were effected..." through gritted teeth must be one of the very rare occassions he's mentioned ITV1

Viewers? Well probably not. Shareholders,... erm dunno , never watch it, not like the old days! Advertisers, yes would notice - go balistic and be on the phone to Messrs Sue Grabbit and Runne. NThelL? Yes their engineers would be on to lt like a shot, and have the solution. But their corporate beef-heads wouldn't understand any of it, paticularly the idea that a quick response would be a god thing!.
