The OBs should cost less than they used to in the early days of NHP - back then it would have been terrestrial links, quite possibly with mid-points. Satellite should mean that significantly fewer staff are required for the links.

Possibly. Although when Noel returned to the BBC to do that lottery show a few years back, They tried to recreate NTV with disastorous effect. Basically Digital TV fell fowl to the feed and the digital delay meant it was very difficult for a conversation to build between Noel and the viewer, so it wasn't as sucessful as they might had hoped.

And I don't imagine there would be a way around this? So NTV may not come back.

That would be a problem - I've never quite understood why this new improved digital lark takes longer to get to people#s homes than the old fashioned analogue! That's a statement, not a question by the way Laughing

The only format I could see it returning in is a show based around the Gotcha element, with perhaps a couple of celebs and one ordinary viewers pranked each week.

I would have called it a rhetorical question; but far be it from me to correct you, lest you add another sentence to your odiously self-pitying signature..

Noel Edmonds rules out return of Noel's House Party
By Alice Walker & Katie Hind

Noel Edmonds last night ruled out moves to bring back his Noel's House Party on BBC1. The Saturday night show was a massive hit before being axed in the mid-90s and the Beeb sounded him about a return.

A friend of Noel, who now hosts Deal or No Deal on Channel 4, said: He'd never go back to a channel in such turmoil."

Dear oh dear. Alice Walker and Katie Hind obviously struggled to write that piece of quality journalism. I especially enjoy the last line which suggests that "a friend of Noel" is now the new Deal or No Deal presenter.

He works at Channel 4? The only channel I can think of in ''turmoil'' at the moment.

The BBC wouldn't have him back at the moment, particularly after his criticism of the License Fee.

Are people forgetting that they did move away from the set we seem to remember towards the end of its run. The set in the last series was a lot smaller.

Just found this on Youtube, the final few minutes of NHP which includes how small the set has become... clicky

Yes, the last series was done 'in the round'. The set was hexagonal and sat in the middle of TC1. The audience were in the set itself rather than the traditional seating rostra.

The big error they made with that last series is that they completely revamped the show. There was a crisis of confidence in it and the format in the penultimate series (which led to it missing an episode). For (what turned out to be) the last series they threw everything out and started from scratch with lots of ideas, few of which worked.

It's happened to other programmes - The Krypton Factor and Telly Addicts both did the same thing - had a revolution in format rather than continuing to evlove it

Oo - I'd forgotten about what they did to Telly Addicts! It was a perfectly good quiz show with the two teams sitting on sofas watching clips on the telly. But then they added all sorts of ridiculous new rounds to it - some of them were so terribly contrived and it fell flat on it's arse.

I vaguely remember this as well... don't remember much about it though.

It was for children in need 1995-although the segment itself went out on CIN rather than in the show itself.
