I dunno what going on with him these days but he was brilliant once. One of my TV idols.

Ha ! I remember Peel saying much the same about DLT.
There were two Radio 1's back then, the grown up programming with Peel, Nightingale, Saturday afternoon doc spot, In Concert, and Sunday evening specialist stuff. And the end of the pier candy floss stuff. Worth noting ( with the exception of the Top 40 Sunday show) R1 were only allowed to borrow R2's FM network for the former
