In fact, a thread about Noel Edmonds would seem to be the best place to make that statement.... *wince*

It is strange how a thread about Noel Edmonds segued into a discussion and health and safety and that incident hasn't been brought up yet.

I'd say *those* incidents, as well as the one you're thinking of, there was a fractured shoulder from a human cannonball stunt, the various wrecks at Santa Pod and more besides. Just a general lackadaisical attitudeto these things

Didn't someone have quite a serious injury on NHP on that spinning wheel thing they used to have embedded in the floor, but it was kind of hushed up at the time?

I somehow get the feeling though that if the result was a broken leg, they wouldn't have cancelled the show, just chalked it up to yet another 'one of those things' - they didn't seem to learn until it was too late.

There was a feature in the last series of NHP called Party Animals...

... according to the comments in the video, apparently this was axed when someone fell through the trap door and broke both legs.

Yea it was definitely on NHP.

You do get some idiots on TV forums claiming the lack of crazy stunts is down to 'political correctness'. It's not, it's lawyers, but you can still have enough madness. Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow went a lot further than Tiswas if you looked at it carefully.

Completely off topic and after the event but its the same with the EU - most of the reported issues with it aren't the EU legislation itself but how lawyers in this country interpret it.

That's interesting and explains why it disappeared so quickly - although it was already running out of steam when it went as it was clear no matter how good the "party animal" was people were going to want to see them go through the trapdoor and get gunged. I do recall the last appearance of the toilet was when a lookalike of The Queen went through, and not only did they fake the fall (i.e. camera swung upwards and cut to the woman already in the toilet) the level she fell on had been moved much, much higher up than in the clip above.

One the toilet was removed the space it left made a nice performance space, which had been missing at the start of the series.

Interesting if true - the spinning wheel that was used to choose caller numbers in Cash For Questions, which replaced Grab a Grand, disappeared midway through the series to be replaced by a giant inflatable dice rolled by the audience, so it does explain it if there was an accident. A group of people wearing numbered bibs would huddle in the middle as it span around and the first to fly off and hit the side was the number called. It didn't look particularly dangerous as it resembled something out of a children's playgroup and was all heavily padded, but they started to get groups writing in who were a little older (darts teams/WI groups etc) so it was entirely possible someone fragile could have been hurt.

I seem to recall in Victor Lewis Smith's Honest Obituary of Noel there's an oblique reference to him moving from fatalities to mere dislocations and breakages over footage of that wheel. Not sure if it was a deliberate reference to anything, or just a quick gag.
