Presumably the record would be including all the repeat showings and be on pay TV?

We know this must happen before Halloween as they are currently airing shows 2 weeks ahead of when they were originally planning to.

How and why did this situation come about?

I read that it's going to be around there birthday week(s). Which according to Wikipedia is 31st October.

Hopefully he wont go crawling back to the BBC, because we all know what that means, and pink and yellow are not good colours.

If that means bringing back one of the greatest Saturday night shows, then bring it on. A show like that is crucially missed nowadays.

As for Christmas Presents, I seriously hope another channel picks it up. But if Noel is so secretive and happy about his future plans, I'm not sure if doing it on another station is something to be hyped up by. If it does go online, it'll lose the charm of sitting around the TV watching it together, and it'll ruin it.

They were due to show 4 weeks of hall of fame episodes over the summer break, this was cut short by two, presumably in order to fit in the live shows.

They celebrate the birthday in November as Halloween specials take place at the end of October, as the birthday ones would have been taped months before the live shows would have been thought of, these will not be labeled as 'Birthday Specials' as a result I suspect, and they're going to air from the 10th of October.

I imagine live shows will be the first to feature the product placement deal that Channel 4 are seeking for the show.

I think a one off NHP would be good to see how it works nowadays but I don't think that's ever going to happen. It was sort of the last of the variety shows that family all made time to watch together - but that could just be me harking back to my childhood! TV seems to have to have that 'suspense' element on a Saturday night now.

Except for Saturday Night Takeaway which was very heavily influenced by NHP.

The problem with Noels House Party at the end was that it needed to stay fresh but instead of the incremental changes it was used to they changed dramatically and lost whatever their successful formula was. That said it would probably have fizzled out rather than imploded in the end

It's one of those shows that I absolutely loved at the time - but I really don't think reviving it - whether with or without Noel - is a good idea at all.

True but I doubt that's ever coming back now. "too knackering" for Ant and Dec I remember reading once.

I don't think they've ever decided on the future of the show. Several reports kept arising stating that they wanted to move onto new things, whilst another said they were busy working on new ideas for Takeaway. To be honest, I find it one of their best shows. I'm starting to find them a tad unbearable on all of this Cowell-driven sh!te.

Well the BBC did try back in 2009 with Totally Saturday.
I'm sure everyone can remember how good & successful that was. [/sarcasm]

Saturday Night Takeaway was like the good bits of Noel's House Party, without the cringing bits...

There were some great ideas in NHP - but also some were terrible. Plus some aspects of it would be much more difficult to do these days (NTV in particular)
