Noel does IVC

Noel's Christmas Presents was aired instead of House Party. Noel pops up in the Broom Cupboard for some IVC before announcing a Tom and Jerry Cartoon. Not bad for a cartoon to be on prime time Saturday night!

Haha! Be interesting to see what was on ITV that night hence the BBC thought 'sod it' and went with the Tom and Jerry option. It wasn't the Blind Date Wedding was it? Laughing

Would have been played because the Noels Christmas Presents programme was shorter than the slot that Noel's House Party filled. There's not much else 5 minutes long that could fit into a 5 minute slot. Tom and Jerry was regularly shown at the beginning of the Saturday night schedule

That repeat went out during Noel's House Party's all conquering second series run where it was getting huge ratings and beating EVERYTHING that ITV threw at it. So much so that the repeat of Noel's Christmas Presents actually beat Blind Date in the ratings. House Party's other famous during it's second series was The Darling Buds Of May on Boxing Day in 1992. Pop Larkin around 9.8 million to Noel's nearly 16 million on the night.

People forget how popular House Party was at it's peak.

Thanks for that, very interesting.

I don't recall Noel Edmonds being a CBBC presenter...

I think he'd be amazing introducing Postman Pat. Laughing

Did you read any of the posts in this thread or listen to anything Noel Edmunds said in the video?

Noel's House Party certainly used to be regular Saturday night viewing in our house. Even though my parents used to constantly slag off "silly" Noel Edmonds they'd still continue to watch.

I remember watching Gladiators then Blind Date early evening before switching over to BBC1 for the rest of Saturday nights. You'd have Noel's House Party then National Lottery Live followed by Casualty BUGS or Crime Traveller. In fact I think the only thing worth switching over to ITV around that time would have been Denis Norden's Alright on the Night.

I only saw a clip but knowing and seeing what the show did, I think Noel's Christmas Presents should return.

Isn't it still going, just with another presenter?

And, if I'm right, that was the only edition of NCP to be repeated. It must have been embarrasing for ITV to see Cilla trounced by a repeat and a Tom & Jerry cartoon. Laughing

Yeah Philip Schofield did a simular show on ITV last year Laughing I think the BBC dropped that kind of show after Dale Winton had a couple of attempts at it.

Some specials would have been recorded (they did one from New York for example). The recording date in Infax might be part of the programme, i.e. a guest that couldn't make it live or something to complicated to do live

The Noel's House Party edition from America (I don't think it was New York) was transmitted live. And what a total train wreck it was.

Rolf Harris also did one in 2001 - "Rolf's Merry Christmas".
