Just seen a few sketches of it on youtube and saying to my self - (I remember that!).

Anyone else remember it - particulary the sketch where it's the BBC2 Closedown with rowan atkinson's voice?

Very Happy

Brilliant series. I'm quite a fan of the 'I like trucking' sketch.

And the Swedish chemist. Ball or aerosol?

However... a classic example of a show that has been utterly butchered. It's never even been repeated in its original form, only as compilations. A great programme, but badly mistreated over the years.

I wasn't even born when Not The Nine O'Clock News was shown but I think it's a fantastic programme. On YouTube I managed to discover some of the original episodes, they've only been broadcasted twice in their original format. My favourite song from that is "I like Trucking" and my favourite sketch at the moment is their parody of Nationwide.

I do have to wonder why this has never been fully released on DVD!

I remember reading sometime ago it might have had something to do with "rights issues" and that the first series involved Chris Langham. But agreed it's criminal that the original run has never been repeated in its entirity, even if it was on BBC Four.

Although the compilations are fantastic and at least they are easily available, although it started 30 years ago this year I'm surprised they've never done anything special for it, like Python did 10 years ago and what they're going to do later this year for their 40th.

Yeah "..it kinda lingers." Play on words. Hilarious sketch.

And there's always that clip of Rowan waving and walking into a lamp post Laughing
