Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere but did anyone else spot Alan (the voice of the balls) cock up - as the lottery draw was taking place the 3rd number out was 32 but Alan said it was 12, then corrected it to 32. The 4th number out was then 12.

Just coincidence? What are the odds of that happening?

I've often wondered how Alan can relate all the number facts (5th time drawn this year 57 since the lottery began etc etc) in a split second as the balls drop Twisted Evil ooer!

Maybe the live draw isn't as live as we think and the commentary from Alan is added a few mins later?

Either way just seemed a bit odd.

Oh and can we stop the ' time for another time check Alan' - cringeworthy!

Maybe he has a piece of paper with a fact for every ball on?

If that is the case then Its a fix and I shall be taken them to court!

unless he has a mini camera to the balls coming out and see them a sec before most people

I thought all the facts were already pre-written on the computer (like an access database) and when the ball comes out he just has to type in the number into the computer and up appear the facts that he could use.

I think they use far more advanced technology than that. I think it works something along the lines of having a couple of pieces of paper in front of Alan that have 49 facts correllating to 49 numbers, beginning at number 1 and ending at number 49. When a ball appears he uses his eyes to look down at the appropiate spot on his bits of paper and then uses a complex combination of his brain, vocal chords and mouth to relay that information to the viewer in a machine-gun-esque style.

This system was patented by football commentators many a moon ago, who had useless facts written next to the players numbers for when they can't think of anything to say.

PS. I believe the odds of correctly guessing the fourth ball are 1 in 46.

That could never work. Let's face it, everything about this points inexorably to the involvement of giant telepathic lizards from space.

Coincidence. It's like talking about somebody and then they walk through the door two seconds later. That's never happened to you?

Are you serious? Do you really think Alan memorises all that stuff?
You can download programs from the Internet yourself and produce stats like that based on the last 13 years of Lottery numbers to find out how many times number 28 has come out of the machine overall. Not rocket science. Rolling Eyes

I believe it is a legal requirement for the draw to be live. It is also live on Radio 5 Live and previously used to be heard on Radio 1.
