This programme was recorded at TV Centre last night. Listening to various, unconnected people, it was the worst Friday night they've spent, wishing that they'd stayed at home.

The general concensus of opinion is that the show failed because Dame Edna ruined it, not allowing anyone to spoil her/his/its limelight. After all, she is the Queen of Australia!

Dame Edna Everage presents the show. Lots of impressionists star in the show, even Mike Yarwood makes an appearance apparently!

Could be worth watching just for the cringe-worthy factor.

Think I'll just sit in front of the fire, sipping mulled wine nibbling mince pies & wrap presents though.

Mmm.. I seem to remember the Dame Edna stuff during 2000 Today was particularly awful. Looking at next Saturday's schedule, I'm not sure it really needs to be there anyway..

They've already got Friends Like These, Waiting Game, Jetset and Casualty which takes you up to 21.25, plus you've got to fit the news bulletin in somewhere. Then they have an hour long Jasper Carrot show (long overdue if you ask me) and a fifty-five minute Kylie Minogue concert.

Also, bizarelly, we only get News 24 from 02.30 to 05.40 - when they're showing 'The Land Before Time III'. Who is going to want to watch a film about dinosaurs at half-past five in the morning?

Yes it is - the Land Before Time sequels are rubbish compared to the first, which was made, I think in the late 80s when I was but a mere nipper. Well, maybe not a nipper but you know!

So did anyone watch this drivel then? (note the date of original post)

Such a waste of airwaves!

Well I watched bits of it, but the only reason I was doing so was because you said it was so awful in the first place...

The opening bit would have put anyone off I'd have thought, though a few of the clips later were actually funny.

Can't believe it got an hour and fifteen minutes of prime-time TV though.

Incredibly disappointing - such a waste of an opportunity.

Dame Edna *was* annoying, getting everyone to shout that gibberish at the end of every interview. And that Madge, where was the revevance man?

The impersonators themselves were class, though. Carol Smilie and Huw Edwards were very good impersonating impersonators impersonating them Smile (it has been suggested many times on forums like these, now it has finally happened)

My favourites:
Carol Smilie
Huw Edwards
Andrew Marr (Gordon Brown)
McGowan (Parkinson + Richard Madeley)
and Rhona ????? as Lorraine Kelly

I though it was bad because Dame Edna had a different style for her hair. Also she was reading to much of the auto-que, Barry is good when things come from off his head. Who ever wrote this drivel should be shot for Christmas. Happy holidays all.
