Is Martin Stanford a jinx?
Every time he anchors on Sky something seriously big happens.
Nice to hear presenters ablib though. He always says 'If you are just tuning our way let me tell you'.
Martin and Kay were certainly doing the vast majority of the 6-7 shift unscripted, they started chatting about the story at one point which is unusual but perhaps the way of things to come?
I was watching the 5pm (I think!) programme and over the headlines Kay laughed during speaking about Jack Lemmon who died which I thought (regardless of whether the clip they showed was funny or not) was insensitive. She tried her best to end the headline 'has died' on a low note but didn't quite get far enough down to make it sound sad!
The worst example of this I have seen was when Princess Margaret had a stroke and Kay was laughing because of the previous headline.
It is just bad luck I suppose, you can't stop yourself from laughing really!
youve got to think how would you cope. if you see sometjhing really funny but have to sound serious it just doesnt work.

Worst is with Bob Friend & Anna Botting. They will often just cut to an ad break to be safe!

A good newsreader wil always be able to immediatley compose themselves and carry on - good example: Moira Stewart - she can be laughing at something the Breakfast presenters have said and will then just return to normal and carry on. Also, Michael Buerk, he can be laughing at Jennie Bond (ROYAL CORRESPONDANT ) and how over dressed she is, but will then go straight to some awful story with great composure.
Because these presenters on Sky (i don't have cable so i don't know) can't control themselves they will never be real newsreaders on
proper
news stations.
Actually, if you think about it for a second why would Sky presenters want to work on BBC or ITV news?
Sky presenters have normally a 3 hour presenting shift, with 10-4 as an exception, reach a potential 80 million viewers and cover live breaking news.
In comparison BBC and ITV news readers read the news for 30 mins a day, reach a potential 59 million viewers and only mention news events in brief.
I know which one I would rather do!
