Waiter, waiter, this coffee tastes of mud.
That's all right, sir, it was fresh ground this morning.

Which like Celebrity Wrestling was axed after one series, and the final episode being shown on the morning of New Years Day 1990.
But there was a difference. People liked Interceptor.
But Thames didn't care so they wielded the axe.

But she's not sorry she did it; it was the most physically demanding show she'd ever done. Not the first time ITV has given Annabel a raw deal - remember Interceptor?

Right thinking cap coming off....
I think if ITV want to try and return to "old form" they really should return to their core features, Drama, Comedy and News.
ITV have had some excellent Drama's (And no, I'm not talking about Ant and Dec) Wire in the Blood etc, but it's so confusingly scheduled that it's a case of simple hit and miss.
Comedy, and apart from the C/A's where is it? It really is a joke (If you'll excuse the pun)
And News, well I think this is one area ITV are doing quite well in. It's at a fixed time and consistent. Local News then National. Simple.
I really do believe a fixed schedule is needed. This here and that there. Channel 4 have this policy of having serious programming on Monday and Thursday evening following the news with lighter stuff on Friday and Sunday. That and some excellent new stuff (Sugar Rush, Dead)

Oddsocks, a sitcom with Lynda Bellingham and Sarah Churm, was trailed on Nightscreen for months but never broadcast. Lynda thinks it won't be, claiming sitcoms aren't seen as "fashionable" at the moment.

Wasn't this first given to Linda Robinson?
Why do ITV think we all love to wall to wall s h i t e, can't they see the amount of programmes that are failing due to the simple fact they are mindless pap? So with that in mind why are they not showing a sitcom they have already made? What a strange bunch they are.

You've only got to watch the classic sitcoms on ITV3 to realise how much ITV1 has changed.

Second Thoughts, Faith in the Future, Rising Damp, Home To Roost are NOT Granada productions proving the point that Granada was and still is good at Drama but s h i t e at other programming. Even Carlton's Barbara raised a titter or two. Granada didn't do sitcoms or indeed much light entertainment, hence why there isn't anything on ITV like that today. And as for quizzes, these were many Central, Yorkshire or London based. Charles Allen is Granada, Granada is ITV in England & Wales, rid the man and you will get a better balance of programming.

Don't know about Linda Robinson, but Linda Robson was originally offered the gig.
More distressing news tonight - Celebrity Love Island is getting a second series, according to www.sundaymail.co.uk.
If only the makers of Oddsocks (and everything else gathering dust on the shelves) could sue ITV for not showing it. It might have been more rubbish but we'll never know.

Well its official, ITV1 is ****! This series has only been 'saved' by the antics of two of the 'celebrities', constant promotion, and audience inheritances from Corrie. If ITV are giving this a second series it just proves they are at the complete mercy of Granada, and unable to think up decent programming ideas. This series would have been a flop had it not been for the above mentioned facts (I still maintain it is a flop though), and how ITV can even consider doing a second run is beyond me.
