Nigel Pickard has launched an attack against his critics, suggesting journalists dont watch ITV at all, and its programmes recieve disproportionate criticism. Story here
I especially like the section where he says:
Of course, the fact that it is trailed in every junction during primetime, with special idents etc has nothing to do with wanting the programme to be 'massive' has it
If ITV want to commission crap, and then ram it down peoples throats at every opportunity, then we have every right to criticise the network!
Whenever an ITV exec gives an interview, why do they always try and blame everyone but themselves for the lacklusture performance of the network? You have Charles Allen pleading poverty to OfCom, Claudia Rosencrantz blaming the press for the failure of CLI, and now the most ridiculous arguement from Nigel Pickard that Ch4 is at an advantage over ITV because it has 32 executives compared to the 9 at ITV! Why dont these people just get over themselves. Its no wonder people lambast ITV and its programmes when no-one at network centre will accept responsibility for the problems that they, and only them, have created!

Quote:
"What ITV is surprised about is the disproportionate amount of attention being given to Celebrity Love Island. It is only a half-hour show a night, most nights, on a 24-hour channel. Second, the press seemed to expect it would something massive like I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of here!. We never claimed that.
