RIP Nicholas Parsons. You'd never have realised he was as old as he was just from listening to him on Just a Minute. Wonder if at the funeral those giving eulogies will in memory of Nicholas speak for a minute without hesitation, repetition, or deviation.
Should hold a special tribute show to him on Radio 4 where everyone pays tributes to him using the Just the Minute rules.
He didn't sound as old and was a sharp as a tack, but seemed to suddenly look his years and seem a fairly frail in recent years.
A great comic foil and straight man. I remember hearing Paul Merton say that when he was on Frost on Sunday one of the other guests, a foreign politician I think, said 'can I ask you a question? Why does everyone hate Nicolas Parsons?'
Apparently he had a fall on a train last summer in Scotland, that triggered his demise unfortunately - Gyles Brandreth, BBC News at time of announcement.
Here he is doing some proper acting in the 1989
Doctor Who
story
The Curse of Fenric.
I'd only known of him as a presenter at the time (I think my aunt was on
Sale of the Century
once), so it was something of a revelation:

I think he only missed two episodes of Just a Minute, both in the last couple of years.
I caught that one night on UK Gold years back when I was channel hopping and couldn't sleep, was one of the strangest things I've ever seen, but hilarious 🤣
