Crumbs at least we spend money on infrastructure, we dont have trouble with phone or cable monopoly, How baldy it looks after Nuclear weapons, under funding schools with lotto money.

USA baldy needs more shows like.

At least we have Ch4 news, RT, AL We at least done have so many awful problem[/quote:0408999164]

That's so ridiculous I don't even know where to begin. You genuinely believe we don't have good substantive satire because everything is rosy and we have no cause for it?[/quote:0408999164]

Clearly your failed to understand what's been talked about in relation to this. John Oliver isn't proper satire, it's trying to bring important issues to the massive with some comedy.[/quote:0408999164]

Rolling Eyes That's the very definition of "proper satire". A frequent criticism of Jon Stewart is he's disingenuous because he has always dismissed the hyperbole surrounding the show and, rightly, insisted The Daily Show is just comedy. Oliver now says the same thing of his show and he's right too...it [b:0408999164]is[/b:0408999164] just comedy but it's satire done properly. These kind of shows, which we lack, are good for thought provoking laughs and accountability but they're still not a real substitute for good journalism. For me Vice are currently the one's who are putting everyone, and I mean everyone, else to shame.

I'm sorry for anyone that enjoyed it but it was DREADFUL!

Don't feel sorry for me Very Happy It didn't blow me away but I laughed in a few places - I'm a Celeb had a couple of good bits "what do the focus group say?", the SNP, Cameron at the drive-thru. And forgetting about the royals, Mrs' Crown's Boys just had some great observations about the show it was spoofing. It was pretty topical too with Clarkson and Murray's wedding. If anything, the pace could maybe be slowed down a touch (the only bits that felt like they dragged was The Un Show and Gary Barlow.).

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thought it was great - wrong timeslot though.

I didn't find it particularly funny - most of the sketches could be summed up with one line, then the rest of it just felt like it was sort of left to write itself without anyone having to make much effort. One Show/Un Show - yeah, can see where that's going. Mrs Crown's Boys - got it. The I'm A Celeb bit was alright though, and could certainly bear a few more sketches over the coming weeks.

I had a couple of laugh out loud moments, I didn't think it was bad at all.

Thought it was great - wrong timeslot though.

I do think the repeat could be better scheduled as well - "Super Saturday" ends at 10pm at the moment so throwing in a repeat of Newzoids to extend it by half an hour wouldn't have been a bad idea - BBC1 comedy repeats tend to do well around that slot.

And kind of off topic but a shame to see the BBC scheduling Peter Kay's Car Share against The Delivery Man. There is very little comedy on both BBC1 and ITV nowadays so it's a clash that should be avoided IMO.

I agree. The Nigel Farage song highlighted a lot. I also enjoyed the Evan Davis character with Newznite.

Better tonight - still the odd miss but to be expected, but it felt tonight like the sketches had a bit more room to breathe.

The satire regarding Newsnight's dumbed down format was excellent, along with the Farage song and Peter Capadi who's a hybrid of Tucker and Dr Who. Almost classic Spitting Image.

I honestly don't get why they didn't just use the Spitting Image name. It is pretty much the same thing, just with different celebs and politicians being lampooned because of course, it's 25 years later.
