I enjoyed Jon Oliver's recent show with Edward Snowden. I thought it was a great piece of original journalism - I wish we had an outlet for that kind of thing here rather than Victoria Derbyshire's "lovely films".

Lets be fair here, we don't have half the problems the USA have. Crumbs at least we spend money on infrastructure, we dont have trouble with phone or cable monopoly, How baldy it looks after Nuclear weapons, under funding schools with lotto money.

USA baldy needs more shows like.

At least we have Ch4 news, RT, AL We at least done have so many awful problem

America also has RT and an American opt-out from 4pm-midnight ET.

That's so ridiculous I don't even know where to begin. You genuinely believe we don't have good substantive satire because everything is rosy and we have no cause for it?

I thought it was a very solid opener, and quite controversial in some places, which I liked. Twitter seemed to be split down the middle between love and hate.

Many of the 'haters' were comparing it to Spitting Image, and yet, as someone who has the Spitting Image box set, that show itself was very hit and miss even in its heyday.

If there are comparisons to make to Spitting Image, it's that Newzoids has far too fast a pace so that the jokes don't have a chance to breathe. Also I think this would fit better in the old Spitting Image slot of 10:30 on a Sunday. Or if not, it should have swapped places with The Delivery Man and been on at 9:30.

Clearly your failed to understand what's been talked about in relation to this. John Oliver isn't proper satire, it's trying to bring important issues to the massive with some comedy. That is what I'm.on about

I'm sorry for anyone that enjoyed it but it was DREADFUL! The impressions were OK, but the jokes... God awful! It was terribly written!

It's the closest they've come to Spitting Image so far. 2DTV was initially lauded as 'the new animated Spitting Image' and it suffered as a result of the comparison. Headcases was closer to Spitting Image in terms of style, and now Newzoids is a step even closer.

I wouldn't call it awful, and at 9pm on a Wednesday night, it's a pretty bold move by ITV to be attempting satire in this way.

As an aside, I really can't abide Jon Culshaw's involvement in these projects, as you always know it's him, and most of his impersonations sound similar. Debra Stephenson is better but surely there are new up and coming talents that could be put to better use?

Jon Culshaw does a pretty good Jon Culshaw impression, and that's about it.

I didn't check the credits to see if Francine Lewis is involved in this show.

She's not involved.

What about some of the BGT finalists over the years, e.g. Paul Burling

EDIT: I see that Jon Clegg from last years BGT was used - presumably for his Ant & Dec impressions.
